This option involves 15 hours of one-to-one classes every week with your teacher at their home in New York City. You will be provided with your own bedroom and study area, where you can do extra work if desired. One of the main advantages of this home tuition programme is that you will continue to practise your English language communication skills outside of your class schedule, since you will have to speak the language with your host family and the people of New York.
Having the advantage of being introduced to New York City by a local family is a significant aid in and of itself, as this city’s enormous size can be overwhelming for newcomers who have to figure everything out for themselves. You will be shown the best ways to get around the city, including all the do’s and don'ts that you ought to know about. No matter what hobbies or sports you might be thinking of pursuing during your time here, it’s a guarantee that you’ll be able to find it somewhere here.
Although the subway network might seem confusing at first, you’ll quickly get the hang of things and you’ll be able to get around New York City independently, using your developing English skills in places like Central Park, the Union Square Greenmarket, among so many others.
In order to ensure that you have the learning experience you expect, HLI has a team of Local Organisers working in New York City to respond to any concerns you may have while learning English on their home tuition programme.

General Language - Fast Track
New York City is one of the most diverse cities in the world, whether we’re talking about activities, the number of languages spoken, or the lifestyles that are on offer for residents. It’s in this famous city that you’ll study English intensively for 25 hours every week, in lessons that have been prepared by InTuition’s qualified and experienced teaching staff.
Since this is such a large and complex city to navigate, the fact that this programme comes with Homestay family accommodation is extremely valuable, as you will be able to learn how to live in NYC much more quickly by asking your hosts anything you need to. To synthesise the English you learn in the classroom with real-life situations, InTuition offers two-day trips every week - which might include the more obvious places of interest such as the Statue of Liberty or the 9/11 memorial tour, but also some lesser-known spots like the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Reviews by former students who attended a General course in New York
Very friendly and helpful teachers and staff, mostly good and varied lessons.
I was very happy with everything and had a great time; Kings is definitely to be recommended. It was especially cool to live on a campus with real American students and share the school building and cafeteria; you won't get that chance again so quickly.
