General English Course GE20
Standard General English
The Standard General English course is the most in-demand course that CES offers their students, mainly due to offering an ideal weekly commitment of 20 hours of lessons that guarantees participants’ steady progression over the weeks and months - all without taking up too much of your time. Each lesson lasts for 55 minutes at their Dublin location, which is the longest that CES provides.
You can expect your morning classes to be delivered by two different teachers. Grammar and accuracy are usually worked on separately from their more conversation-oriented lessons, as their priority is to make sure that students are able to use grammar structures accurately before putting them to use.
There are a total of 7 level groups that you may be assigned to, ranging from Beginner all the way up to Proficiency.

General English 20
EC English in Dublin attracts students from all over the world for their General English courses, thanks to their team of experienced and professional tutors who deliver carefully planned lessons for all levels, from beginners to advanced students.
Each of the four main language skills (Listening, Speaking, Writing and Reading) are given equal importance, and will all be worked on evenly.
Since your weekly classes only add up to 15 hours in total, you will have more than enough time for exploring Dublin’s nightlife, entertainment, and general friendly atmosphere from the Irish locals.
General English Morning
The General English course focuses on all of the skills necessary when learning a second language, which include: Speaking and listening, pronunciation, Reading and Writing, and Grammar and Vocabulary.
Students are able to participate for as little as 1 week, and up to a maximum of 24 weeks. The total number of lessons per week is 25, and is always on a morning schedule.
All learners enrolled on their English courses will have access to the e-platform, where you will find a wealth of learning materials to supplement your lessons.
Standard 15
You will have the opportunity to study either English or Gaelic in your teacher’s home. The timetable has to be agreed upon with your teacher, but overall you will take 15 hours of personalised one-to-one classes every week. These lessons are based on the topics and grammar rules that you personally want to study the most.
Dublin is English-speaking for all intents and purposes, but you can also find a considerable number of people to speak Gaelic with due to Ireland keeping their native language alive in the education system. This is a city that offers reliable public transport, and a more relaxed pace of life than many other capital cities in Europe.
You can expect to have your meals provided by your host family, who will also try their best to help you find your feet and settle into life in Dublin in any way they can. HLI has positioned Local Organiser staff in Dublin for the purposes of resolving any potential small problems that might arise during your studies.
With this programme, you will be completely immersed in the target language and culture. The private lessons will take place at the teacher’s home and are tailored to your needs and interests. The programme also includes accommodation in a private bedroom (Sunday to Sunday) and 3 meals per day with the teacher’s family.
You can customise your stay by booking additional lessons, activities, courses for specific purposes, private bathroom, accommodation of superior standard, airport transfer and close supervision for young students.
Standard Course 20
The Standard course offered by the Active Centre of English Training is their most in-demand programme, thanks to providing students with 20 hours of lessons per week, and in small groups where it’s easy to communicate with your friendly teachers and peers.
In terms of the course content, students learn through a method that balances grammar and conversation skills, to ensure that you get the best of both worlds. Vocabulary, idioms and grammar are practised in an interesting and stimulating way to achieve fluency.

Life Skills Through English (15) - Morning
This morning course of 15 lessons per week is for those who are at a lower minimum language level, covering A2, A2+, B1 and B1+. This covers the language with enough detail for students to successfully deal with any situation at work, home or in a social setting. The focus of the course is communication skills.
General English - Morning
The General English course from IBAT College Dublin is semi-intensive, meaning that you will receive 15 classes every week from their professional teaching staff. This lower number of weekly classes allows students to keep some of their free time for themselves, while also pushing their English skills to the next level.
Class sizes are limited to 15 people per group, so this option would suit those learners who feel comfortable in a medium-sized group setting, where there will be plenty of new faces to meet and practise your English with.
The approach of the school is to mix formal and informal language learning - reading, writing, speaking and listening, with conversation activities in order to reinforce practical skills for everyday situations.
Standard 15
You can study either English or Gaelic with your teacher while staying in their family home in Limerick, Ireland. This option will give you 15 fully customised private lessons to improve from per week, not to mention all of the conversation practice you will have with your host family at the dinner table, or in the streets of Limerick.
In the Republic of Ireland, Gaelic continues to see use thanks to the education system’s efforts to preserve this language, so you can encounter many people with whom you can practise the language. However, please note that a high level of Gaelic is not especially common among the majority of people, so you might have to narrow your search for conversation partners by joining clubs, and so on. The common language spoken is English, and if you’re studying this language then you’ll be able to use it everywhere you explore in Limerick.
Your host family provides your full board meal plan, so you can concentrate on your language studies and discovering the city for yourself. If there are any issues that come up during your stay, you can contact HLI’s Local Organiser staff in Limerick.
Standard 15
Take your next steps on your English journey with HLI’s home tuition programme in Galway, Ireland. Your one-to-one classes will add up to 15 sessions every week, and these will generally take place in your teacher’s home. After you arrive, your host family will be happy to show you around Galway City, so that you know where all the essentials are, and where you can pursue any hobbies or sports that you like to practise in your free time.
Galway has a rich history to tell, particularly on the topic of emigration. By living with a home tuition family, you will learn more quickly about cultural and historical matters, helping you to feel more at home. When it comes to the great outdoors, you’ll find stunning sights such as Renvyle Beach, or Connemara National Park, among many others.
You will be provided with your daily meals by your host family. If you would like to communicate any issues with your home tuition programme, HLI asks you to get in touch with their Local Organiser agents who are located within Galway.
Standard 15
HLI’s home tuition programme gives prospective students the chance to study either English or Gaelic while living in the Irish city of Cork. You will be welcomed into your teacher’s home, where you will take 15 hours of private classes per week. All homes have been inspected as fit for purpose, and all teaching staff are qualified professionals that you can depend on to advance your language skills.
Compared to taking language classes in a school, the home tuition programme from HLI lets you have access to constant communication opportunities from both your host family and the residents of the city of Cork. This is a major university city, with three important institutions all located centrally. This means that students of all descriptions feel at home, as the city is used to welcoming learners from around the world.
You will receive three meals per day from your hosts, as this option includes full board. HLI asks guests to contact their Local Organiser staff in case they experience any issues with their course or accommodation.
