The first lesson every day is based on topics related to grammar, with the second half of the morning classes being focused on oral expression while discussing aspects of Italian culture - an important part of integrating into your new life in Verona. The Intensive Standard Course consists of 20 Italian lessons of 55 minutes every week from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00 with a break of 20 minutes at 10:50. The Italian language course is available on six different levels, 2 lessons grammar + 2 lessons of conversation, from absolute beginners up to perfecting, see "Course levels".

Day 1
- What is coffee, a bit of history and knowledge of the different species : Arabica, robusta and other hybrids.
- The coffee process: picking, stripping, washed and dry method.
- Introduction to roasting and blending. Visit to a roasting plant.
- Tasting of a good and a bad espresso. Tasting different Arabicas and Robustas, finding differences.
- The preparation of Espresso, dosing, grinding and tamping.
- The Cappuccino in theory and in practice. Milk frothing: the SCA standards, more or less frothy, more or less hot.
- The classic Italian preparations: Latte Macchiato, Caffèlatte, Espresso Macchiato, Shaked Coffee etc.
- Knowledge and cleaning of the Espresso machines. Descaling, backflushing, cleaning of the grinder.
Day2
- What are the barista and latte art championships. Regulation and competitions.
- Introduction to professional coffee tasting: the SCA evaluation boards, testing of several coffees in single origin, from Mexico Altura to Java to the spicy taste of the Ethiopian Sidamo.
- Practical test machine: find the right grinding degree and make a correct Espresso.

This course is for those who prefer a walk in the open air to a classroom lesson.Italiano camminando" is a week-long course designed for those who prefer a walk in the open air to a classroom lesson.
Walking together in the Tuscan countryside (the Valdichiana and the Val d'Orcia) while speaking in Italian will allow you to practice the language and understand the culture better, using the language and improving your pronunciation in an informal context, each according to their own level of competence but always with the guidance of a teacher who is attentive to the needs of everyone. The course is recommended for people with elementary to advanced levels of competence in the language, who like to walk in the country and have the capacity to accept others who speak at a level higher or lower than their own. It is not recommended for complete beginners. Minimum 6 participants.
Duration: 1 week (5 days, from Monday to Friday).
Hill trails between 6 and 12 km, recommended for those who are in good physical shape and can do climbs and descents. In case of severe weather, as an alternative option, participants will be offered the opportunity to enter regular language courses with a reduction in the cost of the course.

We will visit Pienza, see the main monuments of the "ideal city" commissioned by Pope Silvio Enea Piccolomini and then cross one of the most evocative corners of our valley to reach Monticchiello. Day 3: Visit to the Parco Vivo. Hiking to the springs and guided tour of the Vivo spring and the ancient Ermicciolo, a 12th century Camaldolese hermitage. Lunch in the park with tasting of typical products. Departure at 9 am from Montepulciano, return to Montepulciano at 4 pm.
Day 4: Free morning (weekly market). Departure from school at 2 pm. Walk through the vineyards and wine tasting with snack in a cellar. Return to Montepulciano at 5.30 pm.

This course is an educational journey through some of Italy's most scenic regions. This course focuses on Italian literature, contemporary Italian history, history of Italian art, history of Italian music, Italian opera and Italian architecture.Students take the complete course, to which are added 2 individual lessons of 55 minutes each for 3 afternoons per week; this kind of course allows the school to follow the particular linguistic needs of each student in detail.
The focus of the content during group lessons is on the structure and rules of grammar, practical exercises such as forming sentences, games, quizzes and written texts, expanding vocabulary, idioms, reading texts on the various topics of Italian culture such as cooking, wine, music, cinema, role plays, acted out everyday situations, conversation and the use of different methods of communication, direct listening, analysis of the different faces and facets of Italy.
For intermediate and advanced participants active newspaper readings are used. Discussions about topics from the world of art, culture, current affairs, politics and society. As a rule, the 4 hours daily are divided into 2 hours of grammar and 2 hours of conversation, so the language student gets to know and immerses himself in the 4 pillars of language optimally: speaking, understanding, reading, writing!
During the One-to-one lessons, students may choose their topic of focus from literature and history, cinema, theatre, music, architecture, sculpture, print and TV, and Italian opera.
Lesson content, topic of the courses or any other special requirements must however be agreed upon before your arrival.

Back in Time Course

This course includes 20 Italian language lessons and 3 excursions per week.Sardinia's history goes back thousands of years and in this course you will visit some of the most interesting and ancient sites in South Sardinia.
You will visit the suggestive Phoenician/Roman city of Nora and the mysterious Bronze Age settlement of Su Nuraxi di Barumini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The "Back to the Past" course includes Italian lessons every morning from 9:15 am to 1 pm, plus three afternoons exploring ancient sites.

In addition to the Italian course (group or one-on-one), in which you will learn more about the language structures and communication skills in two different moments of each class, you may choose to take 4 classes or 6 classes per week of Italian culture: literature, art history, cinema, among many others.
Italian courses are available for a minimum of 2 weeks, but the course typically is a 4-week long. This structure allows the achievement of a level according to the Common European Framework (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) and provides a total of 80 lessons, divided into 40 conversation lessons and 40 grammar lessons. In case the group is composed of less than 3 students, the conversation lessons remain unchanged but there are 24 grammar lessons that also guarantee the achievement of the expected level.
To dive into the Italianness even more, you will have the chance to join our optional cultural activities, offered by AEF to all students of Italian courses: a precious opportunity to discover more about Italian art, music, food and wine culture.
Your experience will start with a school tour in Palazzo Niccolini. The next step will be a walking tour to discover Florence, and in the following weeks, you can join us for a pizza night at a local pizzeria, lessons on art and Florentine museums, a masterclass about opera, an Italian wine tasting, a night at the Opera Theater or another venue in Florence, as well as Italian language activities.
