What our students said about Tropea
Super! But for older people, access to the beaches is difficult without a car. The stairs are manageable downwards, but upwards: you can' t do that. And from 10 September, there is no longer this bus service, even though there are still so many tourists in the place, and older ones too. For me, that meant a big restriction. These tuk-tuk rides are extremely unpleasant. The city would have to come up with something.
Super beautiful, but small and boring in the long run because extremely touristy and overpriced. Very limited train connections along the coast, no buses to the surrounding area or ferries to the Aeolian Islands (only expensive excursion boats), no cabs out of season (!). The fishing port is only a tourist port.
Beautiful and interesting city. The locals are very friendly and helpful and there are plenty of opportunities to improve your newly acquired language skills. The beach and sea are fantastic. Everything is within easy walking distance.
The city lives from tourism, if you like it a bit quieter like I do, come from October - it gets a bit quieter every week! Several beautiful beaches & countless fine restaurants - so you can really spoil yourself after your studies!
Unfortunately, more and more shops and restaurants close at the end of the season. In the end, there is hardly an espresso or cappuccino to be found.
Interesting place with a lot of history, beautiful old aristocratic palaces that are being meticulously restored as well as a wonderful beach.
An exceptionally beautiful and friendly city, I felt very comfortable. In mid-June, the city was not yet so crowded.
Structure points to generally mafia-like structures in all areas of the city, which are accepted and tolerated.
Nice little town. However, you should be aware that a lot of things close again after the end of October.
