What we like about the school
- Located in the city centre, only a short walk from Sheffield Hallam University and the Sheffield train station and tram lines.

Location: Sheffield Language Centre is located in the student-friendly city of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, England. Famed for its green spaces, love of live music and steel production during the Industrial Revolution, Sheffield has much to offer students, with Sheffield Language Centre well-positioned to assist students in reaching their language goals. The school is housed in the city centre, a moment's walk from Sheffield Hallam University, with many music venues, restaurants, eateries and attractions such as the Millenium Gallery and Peace Gardens. The Sheffield train station and tram lines, are both within a 5-minute walk of the school, ensuring that students have everything they need to reach their language goals, whilst being able to explore what the city and the surrounding areas have to offer with ease.
Course selection: Course selection includes something for students of all levels. General English courses can be taken on Full or Part-time schedules with Business and IELTS Preparation courses also available throughout the whole year.
School facilities: The facilities of the school are excellent, offering all a student may need to learn from a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. These facilities include a cafeteria, library, free after-class access to language learning software, a lounge area and a student support desk for any questions or queries that may arise. All classrooms are equipped with heating and have ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.

“You can click on the course name to view the course information. Each group has a maximum of 8 students and they accept students of all language levels (A1-C2). Placement tests are conducted on the first day of the course and groups are arranged according to the results of the tests. Please scroll down the webpage to view the student's nationality composition and may change based on the actual enrollment each year. The school will try to place students of the same nationality in different classes.”

Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.

The General English for Beginners course on a full-time basis will focus on the fundamentals of language skill improvement, giving equal importance to the skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. The lessons add up to a total commitment of 24 hours per week, which will push your English skills to the next level as the weeks go on.
A variety of methods will be used in the classroom, with activities being taken in groups and as pairs. As a part of the course, you can expect the school to organise field trips with you and your peers, for the purpose of making English learning fun and enjoyable.
