What we dislike about the school
- Younger students should consider that the average age of students at this school is significantly higher than at most other schools.
Location: Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera, an Italian language school, is based in Alghero on the Mediteranean island of Sardinia. Sardinia is a central point within the Mediterranean sea and as a result, there are a number of sites that reflect its history including the Bronze age stone ruins and the Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, both of which are found close to Alghero.
Getting around: The island is surrounded by coasts and it has a number of interesting geographical features to tempt you for a day away from the city. A 40-minute car drive from the school is Neptune's Grotto, a large marine cave with gems galore, and Capi Caccia the picturesque cliff setting with a lighthouse and amazing views of the area.
City's features: With its terracotta-coloured roofs and its golden walls, Alghero is very picturesque and has a lot on offer for its visitors. Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera is in a great location within the city, a 3-minute walk from both the Alghero Cathedral, a must-see, and the church of St Michaels with a beautifully coloured dome. There are beautiful strolls to be had throughout the city where you can explore all of Alghero's hidden gems.
Course structure: Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera believes that the best way to learn the Italian language is to find a balance between a stimulating classroom environment and practical classes using the language in real-life scenarios around the city. The school offers a number of interesting cultural classes including AllegraMente - A Vacationer’s delight, which allows its students to learn Italian designed for basic travel and Lingua + Cultural Course, which uses its extra lessons to learn about the history of the area and Sardinia itself. Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera is a perfect mixture of learning a language and experiencing a real Sardinian experience.

“Centro Mediterraneo Pintadera does not offer courses for seniors, but we know that the average age is 50 all year round. You will therefore be with mature students in class. For cultural immersion (very popular with most of our senior students), the school is offering (in 2024) the Lingua + Cultural Course. This course offers three afternoon events, taking place inside and outside the classroom, each on a different theme, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in Italian culture. Integrated into the course, this is a dynamic approach that avoids academic stereotypes.
