Location: ELS Language Centre in Melbourne, Florida, is based at the Florida Institute of Technology. Halfway between Miami and Jacksonville on Florida’s Atlantic coast, the city of Melbourne is just east of Orlando. It is a smaller city on what is commonly referred to as Florida's Space Coast, thanks to its proximity to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. Melbourne boasts fine weather throughout the year and is a popular beach destination.
The school: ELS Language Centres give international students a chance to experience life on a university campus while they improve their English skills. They have partnerships with the Florida Institute of Technology and several universities and colleges in the area which allow their students conditional admission upon completion of the ELS Intensive English programme at the required level, without needing additional language testing.
Courses: Students at ELS Melbourne can choose from Intensive or Semi-Intensive English classes, English for Executives, or their American Explorer course which has a more laid back pace and allows students more time to explore the sights of the surrounding area.
The campus: The Florida Tech, or FIT, campus has a wide range of sports facilities which are open to ELS students as are all the other facilities, library, computer lab, etc. It is only twenty minutes away from the city’s white sand beaches.
Getting there: Melbourne has its own airport, Melbourne Orlando International (MLB) which is very close to the school, less than 10 minutes by car. But the largest airport in the area is at Orlando, Orlando International Airport (MCO), about an hour’s drive away.
