Beijing is the capital city of China and has its own province. It is located in the North East of China. The province expands from the core of the city right into the northern hills, which are home to a section of the Great Wall of China. Interwoven amongst modern buildings are ancient temples and palaces, some of which date back three thousand years. The Forbidden City Palace, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square are a few of the spectacular monuments found in the centre of Beijing. On the outskirts of the city is the Summer Palace, with lakes and gardens to explore.
