Piedmont is a North West region in Italy, adjoining France and Switzerland. It contains the city of Turin, which is the capital city of the province. Important landmarks in the city include the Mole Antonelliana with the National Cinema Museum, the Egyptian Museum and the Royal Palace of Turin. The North East of the region boasts spectacular lakes such as Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore with picturesque islands including Borromean Islands and Isola Bella. Piedmont is at the base of the Alps mountain range and has excellent Alpine skiing.
