The school worked with us to find the right level to start(A2… lots of head knowledge through Duolingo and Babbel but not much talking) and then continued to ask if we were happy with the progress and the instructors. We did group classes in the mornings and 1 hour of private classes in the afternoons. The group classes were not what I expected. I was thinking they would be more like high school Spanish, lots of grammar and words, memorizing, etc. They were run with a packet containing instructions and exercises in grammar followed by an exercise in reading, writing or listening about some aspect of Colombia or social issues. This got us talking and thinking in Spanish. Our goal was to improve our speaking so this exercise really pushed us! We came in as A2 and left as B2 after 6 weeks. The activities offered by the school were awesome! It really promoted interaction and relationships between the students and the teacher running the activity. It facilitated getting to know Medellin and how to get around. I would highly recommend attending all the offered activities.
