General English Morning 20
The General English 20 courses are an enhanced version of the General English 15 course, with one additional hour per day of lessons in specific academic areas. This extra hour is a separate and valuable course, enabling students to strengthen their English language skills, using a range of subjects from history and politics to British food and entertainment, to activate their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills.
Students in an exam class will also have the opportunity during this hour to work on exam strategy and test practice.
These classes are usually smaller than the General English 15 classes and give students greater opportunity for individual work with their teacher.

Oxford is a city that is more than adapted for student life, and by enrolling on HLI’s home tuition programme you’ll improve your English skills dramatically while also being at the epicentre of British university culture. The home tuition programme involves living with your teacher, with whom you’ll take 15 lessons per week on topics of your choice.
Between classes, you’ll be able to explore Oxford and try new activities like taking a punt down the river Cherwell (a small boat), taking in the wonders you can find in the city’s museums and art galleries, and enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife scene.
Your meals will be prepared for you by your host family, and they will do their best to help you find your feet in Oxford after you arrive. If you have any issues with your course or accommodation, you are encouraged by the school to get in touch with their Local Organiser in Oxford.
With this programme, you will be completely immersed in the target language and culture. The private lessons will take place at the teacher’s home and are tailored to your needs and interests. The programme also includes accommodation in a private bedroom (Sunday to Sunday) and 3 meals per day with the teacher’s family.

General English Intensive
Classes take place on Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:15 and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 13:15 to 16:30.
These classes are for adults, 16 years old and above, who need to improve their English language skills for general use in everyday situations.
Group sizes are small (no more than 10 students) so joining a course is all about participation. The classes are lively and fun but also challenging. They focus on reading, writing, listening, grammar, vocabulary, with a particular emphasis on speaking and pronunciation.
Students are given regular homework to continue their learning experience at home. Each class follows a guide, in line with the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR), to help the students improve their language skills quickly and build their confidence in the use of English.

Standard General English
This is the most popular course in all CES schools. The Standard General English Course takes place every morning from Monday to Friday, leaving you free to join the Social Programme or study on the CES Online e-learning platform and in the Self- Access facilities every afternoon.
Your morning lessons are divided into two parts, usually taught by two different teachers (UK & Ireland). Lessons concentrate on building your knowledge of the language, focusing primarily on helping you increase your vocabulary and improving your grammar so that you attain the levels of accuracy you require. Lessons also work on improving your overall communicative proficiency and fluency, focusing on the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. In addition to this you will work on specific pronunciation difficulties and expand the range of language you use in real-life situations.

Standard English
The English Language programmes are designed to work to the IELTS syllabus, although students are not obliged to take an IELTS exam, and may choose to use the lessons to improve their general language skills. Preparation for alternative exams, such as Trinity, or the Cambridge exam suite, is also available on request.
Students are placed into the most suitable class based on both their age and their level of English, which is assessed before arrival using our pre-course placement test. This can be taken either online or in-person.
Course length is flexible: students can join a course for as little as 1 week, or for any number of weeks up to 1 or 2 years, depending on visa status. It is recommended at least 2 weeks for a short course.

Junior English + Activity Programme - Residential
Price includes materials, cultural and sports programme (archery, laser tag, drama, arts and crafts, college visits, museums, disco, movie nights, barbecue) and a full day excursion every Saturday or Sunday (usually London, Cambridge, Bath and Stonehenge, Stratford and the Cotswolds, Brighton).This is a programme for junior students (ages 12– 17). Residence accommodation incurs a GBP 80 damage deposit (refundable) and a GBP 20 key loss charge (refundable) payable on arrival and refundable on departure.At the Gold Edition Summer Camp students will experience high quality teaching, accommodation, meals and excursions.
The language classes are held by dynamic and friendly language teachers and offer a good opportunity to deepen students language skills. Each student will get to know new words or new grammatical subtleties in addition to the improvement of communication skills.
Activities per 2 week stay:
- 6 excursions (3 full-day + 3 half day)
- 8 day and 14 evening activities (sport & fun) including a boat trip on the River Thames.
