Location: Kaplan International English Liverpool is based in Liverpool city centre a short walk from the main shopping areas and tourist attractions. It is situated within the Cotton House Office block. The streets around the school are lined with shops, restaurants and bars.
Getting around: Fifteen minutes from the school is the central train station. This has lines to local cities such as Manchester as well as southern cities including London and Birmingham. The centre of the city is easily walkable, and for those trips further outside the core, there are plenty of bus routes and stations dotted around.
Local attractions: A number of attractions are found along Liverpool’s waterfront. This included the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story Museum. The waterfront is just over 15 minutes from Kaplan International Languages. The Anfield Stadium, home to Liverpool’s football team, is on the outskirts of the city, 25 minutes by public transport from the school. The Liverpool Cathedral is a nice 25-minute stroll from the school, and takes you through other interesting neighbourhoods in the city such as Ropewalks.
Courses: There are general English courses, Academic semester and year programmes, Cambridge and IELTS exam preparation classes and business programmes.
30+ programme: Kaplan International Languages has a 30+ programme for Academic courses, general English lessons and business courses. This means that those over the age of 30 will be in different classes to the younger students.

Visa Documents
Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.

Nationals from countries that require a visa will receive documents from the school, related to booking confirmation, which is required for the visa application.

Kaplan Liverpool’s main offering for students is their General English course, consisting of 20 45-minute classes every week, and which are designed to allow the learner to develop their English in a way that allows them to use these skills in any kind of situation or context.
Due to the class hours not being too intensive, you will still have time left over to explore this famously friendly and welcoming city. The school itself will occasionally organise excursions for participants, which might involve going to Anfield stadium, and other famous attractions, museums or landmarks.
Due to the small class sizes, you will find yourself in an environment where it’s easy to get your teacher’s attention, meaning you and your teacher can work together more effectively for getting your English where it needs to be.
