Neighbourhood: The school is located in the Altstadt neighbourhood of Freiburg, centrally located in the city. This area has a deep history, with many old buildings still standing, and many cobblestone streets making it more or less car less. The school is to the south of Altstadt, close to the Alleegarden, a park that is used as a social meeting place in the summer months by locals and visitors. The area around the school has local stores and it is a short walk to the centre of the city with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants.

Getting around: Freiburg itself is very walkable from the school, with all the main sights such as Martin's Gate, Freiburger Münster and Schwabentor are all within a 15-minute walking radius from Alpadia. The Erbprinzenstraße Tram Station is moments from the school's entrance. For trips outside the city, the Freiburg (Breisgau) Hbf Central Train Station is 11 minutes by foot from Alpadia.

Learning German: Standard German group lessons are available, with a selection of lessons per week, as well as combination programmes, which mix morning group courses with afternoon private lessons. There are more specific German courses for those that want to specify in a particular field including a TELC Exam Preparation Course and an Academic Pathway Programme to help students enter into a German University.
