- Class time is shorter than in other schools at 45 minutes per lesson.
Location: Alpha School of English St. Pauls Bay is an English language school located on the historic island of Malta. The school resides in St. Pauls Bay, a town in the northern regions of Malta that offers a beautiful coastline with several beaches, a vibrant nightlife, excellent cuisine and commercial shopping. Attractions within walking distance of the school include St. Paul's Bay Waterfront beach, Bugibba Water Park, the Malta Classic Car Collection and more. There are several links to public transport nearby.
Accommodation: The school has many connections for different types of accommodation. Options of accommodation offered via the school include homestays with local families, apartments, hostels, and hotels of various ratings.
Getting around: There are several bus routes within a moment's walk of the school, providing students with opportunities to travel to such as Valletta, the Maltese capital, in around an hour's journey. The closest bus stop to the school is the Ishmael bus stop which offers direct routes to Valletta and several bus routes around St.Pauls Bay and the surrounding areas of Malta.
Course selection: In addition to General English taught to students of all levels, over various schedules and intensities, Alpha School of English also supplies Business English and private or semi-porivate tuition. Junior programmes with activities are available several times throughout the year, with Junior tuition-only programmes, for students aged 2-17 years, available for students The whole year round. Teacher training programmes are also available from scheduled start-dates throughout the year.

“Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, as it was off-season, there was no suitable group for me. I was placed in a rather weak A2 group, which was very boring at times. Even though I may not have learned that much new, just speaking constantly was very beneficial.
Every day, you could book paid excursions through the school, which were well-organised and really great – but there was nothing organised by the school itself. A discussion evening or a film evening or something similar would have been excellent.”

“Location and rooms. One of the two teachers was nice.”
“My mother was not allowed to stay in the classroom during private lessons, so lessons had to be cancelled for two days. There was no teacher available for one day, so another day had to be cancelled. After discussion, two days were reimbursed (out of three cancelled days). On the first day, I had to arrive at 8:45 a.m., even though my lesson was not until 1 p.m. I was informed of this without any apology.”

Quality of teaching / language progress: On the first day, I was so nervous that I couldn't speak frankly, but the comfortable atmosphere of the class helped me and my classmates asked me questions and gave me a chance to talk to them. That made me very happy.Other comments: Although the facilities were not that great, the price was reasonable. For me, the school was enough to improve my English. I only stayed for two weeks and would have liked to study more if possible.

I was a bit confused that I should have paid 6.7 Euros more as I was told that the payment with PayPal had an extra charge. However, when I committed a payment it was written that the PayPal payment was free of any charges.
The management and organisation in the school can be improved e.g. the managers interrupted the lessons many times to solve some organisation issues such as app, evaluation forms etc. As I received the student card, I was told during the first lesson about some discounts. However, I did not have the list of the places where the discount can be applied so that I did not use that card at all. It would be nice if I were informed before the lessons started.
Unfortunately, I did not participate in any events or excursions offered by the school as I found it too expensive.”

"The apartment was nice, clean and well-equipped. There is no washing machine, but you can ask the cleaning lady for a laundry service. The area itself is relatively quiet (with the windows closed), on the weekends there were parties in the neighbouring houses, so it was a bit louder.
