What we like about the school
- Located in the centre of Viareggio, within walking distance from the beach.
- The school is next to a Pinewood forest where you can go jogging, rent a bicycle or play tennis.

What we dislike about the school
- Do not offer favorable cancellation terms in the case of a student getting a visa rejected.
- Lessons are 45 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.

Location: In the region of Tuscany is the picturesque beach town of Viareggio. Viareggio is roughly two hours on public transport from Florence and 45 minutes from the renowned Leaning Tower of Pisa, perfect for a day trip or weekend adventure. A few blocks away from the beach is the school Centro Puccini, a language school with 30 years of experience in teaching the Italian language. The school has a central location, perfect for exploring the art deco architectural exterior throughout the streets or soaking up a relaxed beach vibe with an evening stroll along the promenade. There is plenty to keep you busy after a day of study with bars, restaurants and cafes all located in close proximity to the school.
School facilities: Centro Puccini is spread over 2 floors and has 9 classrooms with other facilities including a garden, outdoor terrace and gazebo. The staff at Centro Puccini are young and all members of ASILS, so your learning is in safe and highly motivated hands.
Course structure: There are a number of lessons offered at the school for students to really get involved in the Italian culture including Italian and Hiking for the adventurous and Culinary Arts for Professionals for those wanting to learn tips for this exquisite cuisine. By using interactive class activities such as role plays in everyday tasks like telephone calls as well as discussions over analysis of films and newspaper articles enables students to use and practice all they have learned both inside and outside of a classroom setting.

“Teaching depends on the teacher, and my experience was mixed. While I found, some teachers were very good, but some others were not to my liking. All teachers were lovely, but some teaching techniques were quite old-fashioned and to be honest boring. Others provided a very enriching experience.
During my two weeks stay, one teacher never arrived on time, being at least 5 minutes late while all students were on time. Not great.
Afternoon activities were very limited.
Classrooms are small and temperature can get quite hot. Sitting is not comfortable.

Other comments: On the first day we were put into the wrong conversation class - it was above our level - but then we were put into a lower class the next day. It must be very difficult to teach in a class with students at different levels and different nationalities. I think the assessment should be given on the first day at school and the student, from the time of application to attending the school, should be given guidance maybe every two weeks until the start of their class. The test did not evaluate my level correctly.

Living in these apartments involves sharing your living space with either international or Italian students, or even the owner of the property. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are shared, and as such you will have to keep them as clean as possible in order to enjoy a good relationship with your housemates.
According to the school, these apartments do not try to be luxurious but instead offer residents all the practical things they need for a comfortable living situation. These include your bed, tackles, chairs, and other furniture such as wardrobes. All apartments are located a short distance from the school, shopping facilities and beaches.

I am looking for a language course in Viareggio in May for 2-3 weeks with family accommodation for 1 person with breakfast. I am 65 years old and would prefer ensuite accommodation with no pets within walking distance of school. I might have to arrive on Friday or Saturday.
“Most of the families are within a walking distance from the school, but we do not have families with rooms having private bathrooms. Usually, it's possible to arrive on Saturday. Maybe, considering that May is low season, it could be possible to arrive on Friday.
