High School Programme - Private Boarding School
Berlin
Students will have the opportunity to study in a private German boarding school in Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg or Dresden.You can also attend a boarding school in Germany with GLS. Boarding schools are more expensive than day schools, and usually, they expect a minimum stay of one year. One big advantage: The boarding schools below offer you the possibility to do the "Abitur" and then go on to study at a German university. If you want to do the Abitur, plan to spend at least the final 2 years prior to the Abitur exams in Germany. All boarding schools demand that you speak German quite well.
If you don´t, you can first do a preparatory course in Berlin and then transfer to the boarding school of your choice. The boarding school programme starts with a starter weekend in Berlin.

High School Preparation
Lindau
Course includes 20 lessons of Intensive German course, 5 lessons of conversational training, 5 lessons of exam preparation, 2.5 lessons of Math, 2.5 lessons of English.This is the perfect German language course for young participants who want to continue their education at a German boarding school and achieve a German graduation (General Certificate of Secondary Education or General Qualification of University Entrance).
Besides the basic skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking our qualified and highly motivated teachers also emphasize grammar and vocabulary in this interactive class. It is the perfect basis to prepare for a life at a German school later.
After an entry-level test the participants will be grouped in suitable classes (level A0 – C1) with an average size of 8 students. The course takes place from Monday to Friday morning and on four afternoons per week. Additionally, the students will take part in 2.5 classes of Mathematics and English each per week.
Our students are accommodated in communicative host families. A diversified leisure program with creative, cultural and sportive activities as well as some trips into the near and broader surroundings completes this offer.

Single room supplement: EUR 100 per month.
German high schools ask for a fee of approximately EUR 50 per school year for books and photocopies, to be payable at the secretary’s office. Participants must also pay for public transportation tickets, which can range between EUR 40 to EUR 80.
- Insurance (liability, accident and health): EUR 12 per week (insurance is to be taken out by did deutsch-institut)
- Last-minute application (< 6 months to start date): EUR 750
By attending a German school, you will have the early opportunity to get to know another education system, another country and, obviously, another language. Of course, you will also make a lot of new friends and experience a great deal of everyday life in Germany.
Staying with a family gives you the opportunity to get to know the culture from the locals' perspective and to practice your new German language skills and knowledge outside of class.
