The Standard course is ideal for those who want to learn the Italian language on a morning schedule, in the company of other students, in groups that are guaranteed to be a maximum of just 9 students. You will be assigned to a group that’s appropriately challenging for your current level of Italian - ranging from beginner to advanced. In terms of the content of the lessons, the teachers combine the study of language, culture and current affairs to deliver classes that are educational and engaging at the same time.

The course consists of four hours (50 minutes each) of group classes (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00, with two breaks). Two teachers work with each group, who will alternate between one another. Since every teacher inevitably has a slightly different style of teaching, you’ll benefit from the variety - particularly when it comes to tuning your ear to more than one person when you’re listening to Italian speakers.

“The overall vibe - all the support staff and teachers were very helpful and friendly. The teaching was exceptional - I learned so much in only two weeks, thanks to the three teachers I had (two in the group classes and one for private lessons. They were very knowledgeable about the subject matter and gave clear instructions and explanations.”
“The weather was unseasonably cold for mid May so the classrooms were freezing. This made it difficult to concentrate. It would’ve helped to have had some form of heating.
More effort needed to be made to keep the toilets clean - sometimes there was no toilet paper or soap and the rubbish bins were full to overflowing.”
Insider tip: “The textbook which one is required to buy is quite heavy, which is a consideration for those travelling from afar (weight limits for plane travel).”

If you want to organize your own free time, Montepulciano and its surrounding areas have a lot to offer, including the towns of Chiusi and Cortona, famous for their Etruscan origins, the monasteries of Sant'Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore, mediaeval towns such as Cetona and Città delle Pieve and Pienza, known as the "Pearl of the Renaissance". For nature lovers, there are hundreds of scenic walking routes in the Val d'Orcia or on Monte Amiata. In Montepulciano there are tennis courts, dance schools and a gym. In Chianciano (8 km away and on a bus route) there is a swimming pool. We also recommend a visit to the area's large number of spa towns, such as Bagno Vignoni, Bagni di S. Filippo and San Casciano dei Bagni (reachable only by car).

Adults - Paid activities

- Guided tours of Montepulciano.
- Cooking evenings.
- Wine-tasting.
- Tutorials on history and art history.
- Walks in the country and excursions to Cortona.
- Lago di Trasimeno or Montalcino.

"Location was great! Food ok. Hospitality was so-so. Little interest in communication. TV was usually on during meals. Space in the fridge, advice on the use of tap water, multiple use of the washing machine would have been helpful given the temperatures.
