Location: Centre of English Studies (CES) - Summer Centre Edinburgh is located in the majestic Scottish capital city of Edinburgh. The school is housed in Edinburgh Academy, a Secondary school with a history dating back to 1824. The facilities are authentic and grand in scale, with large halls, bright classrooms and access to sports facilities and grass playing fields. The school is within walking distance of the city centre.
Social and cultural: These summer programmes are suitable for students aged 12-17 years and are inclusive of afternoon and evening activities and weekend excursions.
Afternoon and evening activities may include trips to Edinburgh Castle, the Modern Art Museum, Blackford Hill, the National Gallery & the Mound, the National Museum of Scotland, Arthur's Seat and more. Group work, projects, debates and games are included daily also.
Excursions may include the many trips throughout Edinburgh and a full-day trip to Glasgow.
Each programme also includes one Scottish ceilidh per week, allowing students to embrace traditional Scottish music and dance!
School facilities: The school facilities include over 30 bright and spacious classrooms, internal and external dining areas, sports facilities and grass pitches, a large reception area and a student forum.
Accommodation: Accommodation is available in residential or homestay accommodation. Residential accommodation is in single rooms with shared bathrooms, with roughly four students allocated to each bathroom. Homestay accommodation is based on twin or triple rooms that are on average around a 30-minute journey from the school via public transport.
