What we dislike about the school
- Cost of living can be higher than the other cities.
Location: LTL Mandarin School is in the east of Beijing. It is located within the Central Business District of Beijing, the most flourishing area of the city with many shops, malls and restaurants.
Getting around: The nearest subway is less than 5 minutes away. The centre of the city is about 18 km from the school, which takes about 20 minutes by car.
Local attractions: A lot of the city’s attractions including The Palace Museum, Forbidden City and the Tiananmen Square are in the centre of the city. The Summer Palace is in the north west of the city. This is 40 km away from LTL Mandarin Palace, which is about 40 minutes by car. 80km north of the school is the Great Wall of China, and the quickest route here is 1 hour and 25 minute by car.
Course structure: LTL Mandarin School offers group classes, individual lessons and a combination of the both for adults wanting to learn Mandarin.
Junior Courses: The school has programmes for young learners. There are Mandarin packages which include classes and accommodation at either a homestay or a student residence. Students can also just join the daily classes, or the day camp, whilst stauing at their own accommodation.
School facilities: The complex in which the school is based has a garden, a gym with an indoor pool, some restaurants and a convenience store.

“We can arrange something quite close by Beijing standards. However, using public transport will likely be necessary, as Beijing is vast, walking is generally tiring, and its urban layout differs from other major cities. Our school is located in the Central Business District, with the nearest accommodation options about 2 metro or bus stops away. While the average commute time in Beijing is typically 45-50 minutes, we will do our best to find something much closer.”

Are lessons cancelled on public holidays and will they be made up on other days?
“No, the school is not closed, we offer classes all year round. Most public holidays have no impact on the timetable. Minor schedule changes may occur on major holidays such as the first week of October. The students do not lose any lessons during the holidays; the lessons are made up before or after the holidays. If the programme ends during the holiday week, the courses will be rescheduled in the week before the holiday in the event of schedule changes.”

Can the student of 15 years old with the level of HSK 3 attend a summer junior programme?
“We do not offer group classes above HSK 3 level. If the student is HSK 3 they have to take 1on1 lessons as group classes are no longer effective at this level. The student will still get to enjoy the social aspect of studying at the school by meeting other students during break times, going for lunch with other students as well as joining student activity nights and breakfasts (2-3 times per week).”
