What we dislike about the school
- Lessons are 40 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.
Location: Westbourne Academy Bournemouth is located on the outskirts of the bustling coastal resort town of Bournemouth, in South West England's county of Dorset. With over eleven kilometres of sandy beaches, Bournemouth offers many seaside activities and attractions, with Westbourne Academy well situated for students to enjoy all the area's attractions. The school is housed in the residential area of Westbourne, a short 15-minute bus ride or 30-minute walk from Bournemouth town centre. Surrounding Westbourne Academy are several eateries, amenities and links to public transport. The coastline and a selection of beaches are within a 20-minute walk of the school's front doors.
Course selection: In addition to General English, available to students of all levels over various intensities, the school also provides Exam Preparation programmes (FCE, CAE, IELTS), Junior courses during the summer months (14-17 years), English Plus programmes and private tuition. Private tuition can be taken independently or in conjunction with any other programme.
Social and Cultural: Westbourne Academy offers a varied social and cultural programme throughout the year, allowing students to enjoy the unique sights and happenings of the town and its surrounding areas. Excursions, regularly available, can include trips to London, Bath and Stonehenge, Oxford, Salisbury/Winchester, the Jurassic Coast and Brighton. Regular activities can include beach volleyball, movie nights, evenings out, indoor climbing, theatre trips and much more.

“I did not like that most of the time my last 1.5 hrs were wasted. During the first week we has the same teacher but later they were changing all the time and in the last week we had a teacher who seemed to be boring even himself. It was a waste of time”

Quality of teaching / language progress: It was a good opportunity to become more friendly with the students I was taking classes with.
Other comments: Everybody I met was very kind and I made some really good and irreplaceable friends. I would highly recommend this school to those who want to make friends with people from different cultures that they have never encountered before, in an environment where there are very few Asians or other people familiar to them.

I would like to know if the price of the junior programme includes the flights or not, and if the trips are organized from the country of origin or the students travel on their own and a school representative simply waits for them at the airport of arrival to organize the transfer to the accommodation.
“Students travel by their own means from the country of origin. No tour groups are organized. Once they land, a representative of the school will be waiting for them and will take them to the assigned accommodation. Same procedure when they have to return home.”

Nationals from Singapore do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
