What we like about the school

What we dislike about the school
- Average age of students is a bit higher than at most schools. Great for students 25 years or older.
- A 45 minute lesson duration is a bit shorter than normal.
Location: BELS Gozo is an English language school located on the relaxed and scenic Maltese island of Gozo. The school is housed in the countryside, surrounded by picturesque scenes and is only a short 20-minute bus journey from the island's capital, Victoria. The remote and secluded site of the school is perfect for students looking for a relaxed and tranquil time whilst studying.
Course selection: In addition to General English courses taught over various schedules and intensities, the school also provides several programmes inclusive of accommodation. These programmes are also suitable for Erasmus+ and Bildungsurlaub students. Business English and Mini Group programmes are also readily available throughout the year. Individual lessons are available in conjunction with or independently from any other course.
School facilities: The rural location of BELS Gozo offers students a unique and homely experience. The facilities include a garden, rooftop terrace, lounge area, a library, free after-class access to language learning software and a student support desk for any questions or queries that arise. Free WIFI and parking are available for all students of the school.
Accommodation: The school partners with many local accommodation providers and offers accommodation in Residence and Homestay all year around.
Social and cultural: The school is happy to assist students with organising activities and excursions they would like to take part in. Typical activities organised through the school include horse riding, diving, sailing, windsurfing and yoga.

During individual courses you can choose from a variety of academic programmes, which include general English, business English, exam preparation courses and English for specific purposes. All the individual courses involve an in-depth needs analysis on the first day, which enables us to design a unique, tailor-made programme for each of the students.
All of the individual courses are highly flexible in the methods of delivery, course content and duration. Together with your teacher, you will discuss your learning goals and preferred learning styles. Your teacher will then assess your English skills and plan a learning programme that will help you overcome your difficulties and develop your English further.

“The teachers practice very different pedagogy, so it has been an advantage that I have had three weeks with teachers during this period, but I would prefer a more uniform practice. Some teachers give little (or no) feedback when we say wrong, some (one) teacher also gives little room for active participation / interactivity. While others are very good at motivating, including and correcting. I personally learn very little from listening and/or continuing to use the wrong words or statements. That is why I have chosen to continue with private lessons.”

In summer (August), what beaches are the best in Gozo after lessons at BELS Gozo?
“Being August/Summer I would recommend Xlendi Bay. In Xlendi there is a nice rocky beach, various restaurants, cafeterias and closer to Victoria.
Marsalforn would be a good option too – more places to swim in the area and more restaurant.
From both Xlendi and Marsalforn there is a direct bus to Victoria and then from Victoria she will need to take the bus to Kercem where the school is located.
Victoria is the capital where there is the main bus station and all the shops. From Victoria she will just need to take 1 bus to school.
If you prefer to be near the sea being August then I recommend Xlendi or Marsalforn, however then you will have a longer way to school since she will need to take 2 buses.”

“Yes, there is a test before arrival. The school needs the test latest Tuesday prior to the start date.
