Melton College is one of, if not, the only IELTS exam centre located in York.
Location: Melton College York is located in the suburbs of the English city of York. Housed in the beautiful English countryside, the school has a fantastic site, surrounded by gardens and within walking distance of York train station. The school also has a partner hotel next door, ensuring that students and families of all ages can enjoy their stay in York whilst furthering their English studies. Local attractions include York Minster, JORVIK Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum York, Shambles and York Castle Museum. Leeds-Bradford International Airport is around a 90-minute journey from York.

Private tuition is also readily available in packages.

“All was excellent - the classes, and extra activities. Everyone was friendly. My grandson had a great time and learned how to speak when people can't switch to his own language. The exercises were very interesting - such as describing a word with different English ones.”

The school believes staying in local homes, carefully selected by the College, gives students a great opportunity to practice their English. Students have been staying in homestay accommodation since the earliest days of the College.
As a guest in Homestay accommodation, you will eat with the family and be able to participate in family life. At Melton College, they select and inspect the homestay accommodation to ensure an ideal environment. Each home is visited every year and they have a member of staff dedicated to looking after the homestays and the students staying there.
What is homestay accommodation?
Homestay means living in a home. Many people still use the term ‘Host Family”. The school places students with families, couples and single people.
The hosts treat the student as a member of the household, eating together and sharing the common living areas; no more than 4 students will be accommodated in homestay accommodation and most homestays take a maximum of 2.
The standard homestay includes dinner, bed and breakfast and a packed lunch. You will get a bus pass if the family lives more than 2km from the College

The school has a skills-based timetable specially designed with younger learners in mind and covering the language skills they will need now and in the future. They make the most of the young learners being in York in an English speaking environment.
York is a great city for Young Learners! Big enough to be interesting, small enough to be friendly and safe. Most of the shopping streets are traffic free and everything is within 30 minutes' walk of everything else! As one of the top tourist destinations in Europe, York has lots for students to see and do!
