Location: Language School in Portsmouth is located in the South Coast of England. The school is housed right in the heart of the city centre, and surrounded by restaurants, commercial shopping, and several city attractions. Sites of interest within walking distance of the school include Victoria Park, the Cascades Shopping Centre, the Gunwharf Quays commercial centre, the Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery, and the HMS Warrior Museum. The school’s prime location offers improved access to transport links, their residence accommodation at Crown Place, and to their homestay network.

LSI Portsmouth offers a wide range of courses for adult students, to suit many abilities, needs and ambitions. Students will surely reach their language goals whilst having a memorable time in Portsmouth.

Course selection: The course selection is extensive, catering to the needs of all adult students, business and executive professionals, as well as students of military or academic backgrounds. Business courses are available over a range of schedules, taught in groups or privately. General English programmes are suitable for all levels of student, with a Culture 30+ programme favourable to students aged accordingly. Exam preparation courses are at one's disposal throughout the year for FCE, CAE and CPE exams. Teacher training courses are also attainable with specific start dates.

School facilities: The facilities at LSI Portsmouth are excellent, offering everything a student requires to reach their language goals and more. Facilities include a restaurant, lounge area, computer lab, free after-class language learning software, a games room and a student support desk for any questions, queries or concerns that may arise. All classrooms are equipped with heating and ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.

The full-time General Course is intended to deliver 22.5 hours of English classes every week that cover all areas of language study evenly. The daily classes are divided into two broad types; the morning grammar and vocabulary sessions, and the afternoon conversation and listening sessions. This clear division of time ensures that equal importance is being given to each of these important areas of development, and lets you have a better idea of what to expect before you attend classes.

Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 students, making participating in speaking activities more inviting for many people. Participants can expect regular homework and progress testing throughout this programme.

Generally, course material has to be purchased by all students at the school. The costs of course material will be approximately £40 per course level.
Comments about courses

All General English and exam courses offer additional 5-10 free self-study hours throughout the week. No GE classes on Friday afternoon but Business classes continue as normal on Friday afternoons.

Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 78 £. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

Nationals from USA do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
