What we dislike about the school
- Younger students should consider that the average age of students at this school is significantly higher than at most other schools.
Location: ABC Sestri Levante is an Italian language school located in the town and commune of Sestri Levante, in the Liguria region of northwest Italy. The school is housed within a stone's throw of one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, called Baia del Silenzio, Bay of Silence. There are bars, restaurants and links to public transport nearby. The town centre of Sestri Levante is within a 15-minute walk of the school.
Course selection: In addition to General Italian courses suitable for students of all levels, ABC Sestri Levante provides many other programmes for students of various needs and professions. Such programmes include Italian for Flight attendants, Hotel & Tourism, 50+, Healthcare, Fashion, Business, Teachers, Exam Preparation (CILS, AIL, CELI) and private tuition.
Social and cultural: In the afternoon, after the lessons, ABC Sestri Levante organises activities for students to learn more about the Italian culture (language detailed studies, literature, music, cinema), Sestri Levante, and its surroundings. Such activities can include walking tours, wine, olive oil and ice cream tastings, cooking together, dinners, and aperitivos in the evening. Weekend excursions to towns in Liguria (Cinque terre, Portofino, Camogli, Genova, San Fruttuoso, Lerici, Santa Margherita Ligure...), are also regularly organised by the school.
School chain: The ABC school group currently has two locations, one in Sestri Levante and the other in Florence. With over 40 years of experience, ABC has taught many students from all over the world. ABC chooses to have a maximum of 6 students per class and promotes a familiar and relaxing atmosphere throughout their schools, intending to put students at ease so they can learn Italian successfully and without stress.

"Daily classes are divided into two parts: grammar and communication. These two parts are taught by two different teachers.
If the assigned level seems too difficult or simple to the student, you can always ask, they will meet you halfway (my neighbor changed to a group with a lower grammar level, because it was hard for her).
It can also happen that a student is at one level in grammar, but at another in conversation. Then they will be divided into two groups without any problems.

(Cinque Terre trip, for example) But otherwise cool trips.”

I understand that the composition of the students in the groups may change every week. And the programme probably runs its own course. What does it look like with the curriculum then ? So it's a lottery as to which topics I happen to come across?
“You are right to suppose that students may change every week - the school accepts students from every Monday. So there are those who only book a week, but there are also long-term students.
However, subjects are not a lottery, everyone is asked to complete a level test before starting the course and is allocated to the appropriate group based on the result.
The school has a set syllabus, suitable for each language level. Standard courses cover all language topics: vocabulary, grammar, spelling, pronunciation, reading, etc.”
