Location: EF International Language Center New York is located on the outskirts of the famous city of New York, USA. The school is housed on a massive 25 acres of grounds in Tarrytown, around a 90-minute train journey from downtown Manhattan. The school campus is a 10-minute walk from local shops, cafés and restaurants, allowing for a comfortable and unique experience to be had by all. Attractions such as the Empire State Building, the Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Empire State Building and the MOMA Museum are all within a train journey of the school, Grand Central Train station being around a 60-minute trip from Tarrytown Station. JFK International Airport is within 100-minutes of the school via public transport.

School facilities: The facilities of EF New York are excellent and exceed the expectations of many adult and junior students. Due to the large size of the school's campus, 25 acres, and the slightly remote location of the school in Tarrytown, students receive facilities such as an on-site fitness centre, an indoor swimming pool, a large landscaped garden an outdoor space, as well as a dance studio. The school also has a cafeteria, auditorium, kitchen use for students, a computer lab and a student support desk for any questions or queries that may arise.

Course selection: Course selection offers something for students of all ages. Throughout the year, adult students have General English, Business, Exam Preparation (FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS) and Internship programmes with local industries. Junior programmes are available as Immersive or day programmes at various times throughout the year.

Taking place on EF New York’s Tarrytown campus, classes of international students from all over the world work on advancing their language skills with the 26 weekly lessons on the popular General English course.

The curriculum used by this school is intended to allow you to apply your English knowledge to any situation, including academic and professional contexts. To ensure that you are working in a group that’s right for you, EF asks you to complete their online placement test before getting started. Once enrolled in your General English course, you will be assessed again every 5 weeks to measure your progress - this is a feature that makes students feel like the school cares.

You will be given 4 Special Interest Lessons, allowing you to ask your teacher to work on specific topics that are most relevant to you, such as exam preparation for example.

There is more to EF New York than just studying though; you will be able to take advantage of their swimming pool, gym and dance suite, as well their days out to places of interest such as the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.

Generally, course material has to be purchased by all students at the school. The costs of course material will be approximately €45 per course level.
Comments about courses

The cost of course materials vary depending on the duration of the course:

  • 1-6 weeks: EUR 45,
  • 7-12 weeks: EUR 80,
  • 13-18 weeks: EUR 120,
  • 19-24 weeks: EUR 160,
  • 25-30 weeks: EUR 200,
  • 31-36 weeks: EUR 240.

    Exam Courses (Any Language): EUR 60

    Cancellation Protection fee: EUR 85 (Non-refundable).

    Students must book travel insurance, which covers the whole period of the course and stay in New York. Students can book Erika Insurance Coverage via the school:
  • Two weeks: EUR 85.
  • Per additional extra week: EUR 40.
    Students can have another insurance but they must prove they have booked another one.

    Accommodation:
  • Homestays are no further than 45 minutes by public transportation from school.
  • Residence accommodation is also available upon request and subject to availability.

    Special dietary requirements will cost EUR 50 per week.

    Classes are likely to take place on some days in the morning and other days in the afternoon. Students will be given the exact timetable closer to the start date. These are sample times and lessons will fall within the time frames stated depending on availability and time of year.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 120 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.
