Venue: American English College (AEC) is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Rowland Heights, about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. An area whose population is made up primarily of people of Taiwanese origin, Rowland Heights is a safe place to live in Greater Los Angeles, and many of the businesses and restaurants in the area are asian owned and run. Rowland Heights is bordered to the south by the Puente Hills. Part of the Schabarum Regional Park in Rowland Heights is in the Puente Hills, it has many hiking and equestrian trails for students looking to disconnect from the bustle of the city.
The school: American English College has been providing English as a Second Language courses for more than thirty years. It is ACCET accredited and its ESL programme is SEVIS certified. Courses at AEC include General English with groups at different intensities as well as TOEFL exam preparation and private lessons. They also offer an online General Life Skills course which aims to ensure that students can function comfortably in an English-speaking environment.
Getting there: Travel time from the school to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), 38 miles away, is 50 minutes by car. Getting around in L.A. and the surrounding areas is easiest by car. Students can reach downtown L.A., Pasadena, Hollywood and Irvine as well as several of the more famous beaches on California’s sunny coast in about half an hour to an hour by car.
