What we like about the school
  • Three minutes walk from the central business district and bus stop.
  • Large outdoor lunch areas
  • Campus is directly opposite the Broadwater Parklands.

Location: Southport is a suburb of the Gold Coast, and is the business and education hub of the region. Australian International College of Language (AICOL) is situated directly opposite the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and Broadwater parklands, with views across the Broadwater to the Gold Coast Spit and the Pacific Ocean beyond.

Local attractions: Just down the road from the school is the Australian Fair Shopping Centre, which boasts a wide variety of shops, and many cafes and restaurants. In the nearby Queen Street Village Shopping Centre there is also a cinema for those who want to enjoy a film in the evening. Just 5 minutes walk from AICOL is the Gold Coast Light Rail tram stop, with easy and very inexpensive connection to Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. It is also possible to link with Brisbane International Airport.

Beach life: The beach stretches 42 kilometres all the way along the coast of the city. World-famous surfing beaches are within easy reach. If surfing is not your thing, then why not try a day of snorkeling or diving in Southport's seaway which has been described as the best shorewater location for diving in Queensland. The Gold Coast hinterland has a world heritage rainforest just an hour's drive away. We call it "the green behind the gold".

Course structure: Australian International College of Language is the longest running school on the Gold Coast, being established in 1993. Students can take a General English course in either a full time or part time duration and there are specific courses available for those wanting to tailor their studies in a particular field. These options include professional sport, academic purposes for further learning and high school preparation.

Junior packages: AICOL delivers full time English courses for students from 6 years of age throughout the year, on both tourist and student visas. The programs include Primary School and High School Preparation. During Winter, Spring and Summer we also offer Camps programs, which provide activities in addition to the English study.

School facilities: AICOL has 18 classrooms contained over 4 levels. There is a junior college area on the ground and second floor, with adult student classrooms on the third floor. The front balcony overlooks the Broadwater, providing a very scenic place for break times and lunches. We have several small kitchens all with their own fridges, microwaves, and coffee and tea-making facilities. A small canteen also offers drinks and snacks.

“Very good school. Amazing teachers abd great location: close to the park, by the water. Very well conducted lessons. Lots of discussions on important and current topics, lots of independent thinking (my level is intermediate). I recommend it to everyone, really. It was great! My learning didn't last long, but I improved my English very quickly.
I think I'll go back there again to do the academic level :) I also want to thank Ms. Gosia Mazur, who very cleverly guided me and negotiated a lower price. Thank you, greetings and ... I think until next time!”

"The host family really did the bare minimum! My son ate alone every day between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.! The family was eating at another time! He had sausage or chicken with rice for dinner! If she could have served dog food to save on meals...it would have been the same! The family was Filipino and barely spoke English! We tried to contact the family several times by phone, by email...we never heard back from them! This family is not to be recommended.

The summer camp price is about triple times higher than young learners. What is the difference?
