Location: Les ateliers FL Nice is located in Liberation–Borriglione, a chic and multicultural quarter with numerous shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The school has a garden which allows students to enjoy the Mediterranean sun almost all year long.
Position in Nice: Les ateliers FL Nice is on the tip between the Mantega region and Liberation region of Nice, which are both directly to the north of the centre of the city. Mantega is a quieter region with nice hotels, whilst the Liberation region is filled with historical monuments, bistros, authentic cafes and numerous shops.
Travelling around the city: The very centre of the city is under 10 minutes by foot. This makes it very easy to visit the majority of the central features in the city without using public transportation. The Chemin de Fer de Provence Train Station is just 12 minutes by foot, and this is the main station for trains in and out of the city. Although Nice itself is not an unmanageable size, there is a tram service that runs throughout the region. The Gorbella tram station is 3 minutes from Les ateliers FL Nice and is a station on the L1 Line.
Local attractions: Lots of the city's features are to the south of the city. The major museums in Nice as well as the famous Promenade des Anglais are close to the coast. Directly south of the school all the way to the coast is around 25 minutes by public transport or just under 40 minutes to walk.
Courses: In addition to General French programmes, which are available to students of all levels throughout the year, Les ateliers FL Nice also provides University Pathway, French+Internship and Teacher Training programmes at various times throughout the year. One-to-one and two-to-one courses are available in conjunction with or independently from any other programme.

“I really appreciated that we had plenty of opportunities to speak French with our teacher, Madame Laurence. She also encouraged us to continue speaking French with our classmates during breaks, which helped create a fully immersive environment. I also enjoyed the diversity of the group, there were students from all over the world. It was a great way to learn about different cultures and backgrounds, and since many people didn’t speak much English, it gave us the perfect opportunity to practice French together.”

“With students coming and going every week for different lengths of time, and overlapping, it was obviously not possible to have a set "curriculum." So for me it was partly "school" and partly immersion experience. I was fine with that. It was what I wanted. But for someone attending longer than two weeks it might come across as "unfocused" or "disorganized."”

“Basically, the course (i.e. the morning classes) was not aimed at the target group (+50). The very traditional way of teaching with extensive grammar lessons and written tests was not what we needed, but more speaking and daily use of the language.

Other comments: I wish there'd been more emphasis on pronunciation and reading aloud. Instead, the emphasis seems to have been to push us to fluency as soon as possible (The "Communicative Method").
For my goal of reaching B2 in a minimum of lessons this is not ideal, I would rather have a solid base in pronunciation and reading aloud (which I can then use to progress on my own as well as with further lessons) before aiming for fluency.
Reaching fluency without a good base is a sentence to spend endless hours trying to correct bad habits of pronunciation and reading aloud.

“Les Ateliers is located in a pretty residential area a little away from tourism. You can practice your French in the surrounding shops as they know the students and are a bit more patient than in the tourist areas of Nice. The tram or bike takes you very quickly to the center and the beach.”

“No problem, they can keep their bikes at the school yard during the nights but please note that it closes at 5 PM every day so I am afraid they cannot access to the school at 6 PM.
