What we like about the school

What we dislike about the school
- Class time is shorter than in other schools at 45 minutes per lesson.
Location: Royal Turkish Education Center is located in the frontier city of Turkey, Izmir. Housed in the city centre, in the fashionable Alsancak district, the school is close to the seaside and its large pedestrian area with modern shops and trendy bars. In addition to this, the popular Kültürpark, many high street shops, local art centres and galleries, are all close by, ensuring students have all they need to have a memorable time, whilst achieving their language goals in Izmir.
Getting around: The school is within walking distance of the ferry port and several subway stations, ensuring students have easy access to the city and surrounding areas.
Course selection: Royal Turkish Education Center Izmir offers something for students of all levels. General Turkish programmes are available privately, with schedules and intensities tailor-made to the needs of the student.
School facilities: The school's facilities help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all. These facilities include a kitchen for student use, free water and coffee, and free WIFI. All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating, and ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.
School chain: Royal Turkish Education Centers are part of a small group of schools that teach Turkish for business and personal purposes, throughout Turkey. With locations in Istanbul and Izmir, students have fully immersive Turkish programmes available all year round, Turkish being the language spoken during all lesson time. All lessons are taught from friendly and motivating learning environments, with students learning and enjoyment the primary focus throughout.

Special note for 2027 holiday season: If you plan to take a course during the high season months of April, June, July or August 2027 we urgently advise you to book as early as possible. In 2026 many schools were fully booked during the holidays and the situation is unlikely to be different for 2027 due to a current shortage of teachers, which affects most schools.

“I especially liked the central location, the teacher and the intensive language training, since I was the only student.”
Insider tip: “The most important point when learning the language is that you know many words, so that the people in the host country can understand you and you them. As a tourist it is worth to go to Efes in Izmir, to use the Asanör, to go to Kariskaya by Vapur, to visit the ethnological and archaeological museum, and of course the bazar in Kemeralti. The local restaurants also offer very tasty vegetable dishes that you should give a try.”

"The hostess was like a friend - took me to visit her family a few times. But I was left alone when I wanted to be. She spoke Turkish to me consistently, even though she could speak German, and helped me a lot. I thought it was good that I lived outside so that I could experience normal Turkish life, including public transport. My room was large, clean, with a balcony. Turkish breakfast and simple home cooking in the evening, in my case vegetarian.
