Your teacher will design a course to prepare you for an exam. They will help you familiarise yourself with the test content, level and format, work on the different types of questions you may be asked, review and improve your replies, go over your weaknesses, give you past exam papers to help you practise.
The academic language option for international and EU students helps you prepare for boarding school (GCSE, A Level, IB), foundation courses or university. It enables you to develop and practise the language skills needed to communicate with teachers and students, read academic texts, write summaries, reports, essays and give presentations. It consists of 30 lessons a week (09:30-15:00; Monday to Friday). This is the same as 22.5 hours. 20 of these hours are the same as in the IELTS Preparation course and take place in the mornings. Most of this time is spent on Writing, Reading and Listening skills. In the Intensive IELTS course, 10 lessons of the 30 lessons per week are devoted to ‘Communication Skills’ where the focus is on general speaking, reading and listening skills and topic-based vocabulary.
**Who is this course suitable for?**
Like the shorter IELTS Preparation course, this course is intended for any student who is planning to sit the IELTS exam. Students who can invest more time in the course can benefit from more practice, particularly in speaking. They also will gain a lot of input on their development from experienced IELTS teachers.
