Location: EF International Language Center Santa Barbara is located in the naturally beautiful Californian city of Santa Barbara, on the West Coast of the USA. Housed in two historical and spacious Spanish colonial-style buildings, EF Santa Barbara is a short distance from State Street, where students will find multiple trendy cafés, clubs, shops and restaurants. Also within walking distance of the school, are local attractions such as Stearns Wharf, the retro cinemas of State Street, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Mall, in addition to countless other attractions. The school's downtown location ensures that it is close to many of the city's main sites, allowing all students to feel comfortable, entertained and motivated whilst in Santa Barbara. EF Santa Barbara offers everything a student may need to create many memorable moments whilst reaching their language goals. Santa Barbara is around a three and a half hour journey via public transport from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

School facilities: The facilities of EF Santa Barbara are excellent, offering students all that they may need to reach their language goals, from a motivated and comfortable environment. These facilities include a cafeteria, computer lab, games room, lounge area, a garden and free WIFI, in addition to further comforts such as an outdoor swimming pool and various table games. All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating and ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.

Course selection: EF Santa Barbara is open to students of all levels and ages at various times throughout the year. For adults, several programmes take place the whole year round, whilst junior immersive or day programmes are available through the summer months. The school also offers a variety of exam preparation programmes throughout the year.

Accommodation: Accommodation in Residence or Homestay is optional and available with all courses.

Generally, course material has to be purchased by all students at the school. The costs of course material will be approximately €45 per course level.
Comments about courses

The cost of course materials vary depending on the duration of the course:

  • 1-6 weeks: EUR 45,
  • 7-12 weeks: EUR 80,
  • 13-18 weeks: EUR 120,
  • 19-24 weeks: EUR 160,
  • 25-30 weeks: EUR 200,
  • 31-36 weeks: EUR 240.

    Exam Courses (Any Language): EUR 60

    Cancellation Protection fee: EUR 85 (Non-refundable).

    Students must book travel insurance, which covers the whole period of the course and stay in Santa Barbara. Students can book Erika Insurance Coverage via the school:
  • Two weeks: EUR 85.
  • Per additional extra week: EUR 40.
    Students can have another insurance but they must prove they have booked another one.

    Accommodation:
  • The twin room homestay included in the tuition price can be upgraded to a single room homestay for EUR 55 per week.
  • Homestays are no further than 45 minutes by public transportation from school.
  • Residence accommodation is also available upon request and subject to availability.

    Airport transfer: USD 360 (both ways).

    Special dietary requirements will cost EUR 50 per week.
    Classes are likely to take place on some days in the morning and other days in the afternoon. Students will be given the exact timetable closer to the start date. These are sample times and lessons will fall within the time frames stated depending on availability and time of year.
Individual classes
Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 120 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

If a bank holiday falls on a weekday there is no refund nor are missed lessons recuperated. This is the case for the majority of language schools.
Level test
A test to assess your exact language level takes place before the start of the course via an online form.

Learn how to surf! Go surfing for 3 hours. Includes transportation, surfboard, wetsuit, and surf instructions.

Discovery Pack - Universal Studios and Disneyland - (DCPSBA)
Spend the weekend at two of the world's most famous amusement parks. Includeds transportation to and from both parks, entrance tickets, a one night stay in a hotel across the street from Disneyland.

Discovery Pack - Las Vegas - (DCP2SBA)
3 days and 2 nights. Hotel features a 24 hour pool.
Walking tour at night of the most famous hotels & casinos with guide. Limousine ride after that leaves from Caesar's palace. Free day on Saturday. Night tour of South Strip and downtown with guide. Depart Sunday and stop at Calico ghost town on your return to Santa Barbara. Arrive around 20:00.
