Location: El Carmen Spanish School Valencia is located in the culturally rich and student-friendly city of Valencia, Spain. The school is housed in a modernly refurbished building in the popular El Carmen quartier, in the ancient town of Valencia, near some of the most historical streets in Valencia's Ciutat Vella. Some of the area's sites of interest include the famous Mercado Central (Central Market), the Lonja de la Seda and the Valencia Cathedral. There are also many eateries, methods of public transport, bars, and places of cultural and historical interest nearby. The coastline and Valencia's beaches are within a 40-minute journey from the school with public transport.
School facilities: The facilities are adapted to the student's needs and offer a mix of modern architecture and history. These facilities include a library, a computer lab, and a student support desk for any questions or concerns that may arise. The interior is all painted in clean, bright colours, ensuring a vibrant and active learning atmosphere. All classrooms are equipped with heating and air conditioning.
Course selection: In addition to General Spanish taught over several schedules and intensities and available to students of all levels, El Carmen Spanish School provides DELE Exam Preparation, Private or Semi-Private tuition and any combination of their available courses.
Getting around: The school is a short 11-minute walk from the Túria tram and subway stop, with several bus routes just a moment's walk from the school's front doors.

“It wasn't a course, but blocks of 2 hours each, always with different participants. As beginners, we were overwhelmed on the first day. The methodology and didactics were old-fashioned, the "Nuremberg funnel" method, and the planned material was pushed through. There was little interaction, our speaking went to zero, and when it happened, pronunciation was rarely corrected.”

Group courses can have sessions either in the morning or in the afternoon. The school will confirm the schedule the week before the course starts.
- Individual classes
- Single individual lessons of tuition can be reserved at 40 €. The combination of group and individual lessons is highly recommended. Individual lessons will encourage you to actively speak the foreign language and will offer you the opportunity to discuss individual problems and weaknesses.

"The bed was good but there was no air conditioner or fan in the room, although I wrote Sergio that I would need one. The other people in the apartment were unfortunately very noisy and I was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the shared kitchen and bathroom.

The necessary cleaning materials were also not available. I also tried to draw attention to the condition of the accommodation by sending several emails, but unfortunately they did not respond in detail.

“Most schools only offer an intensive course of 20 lessons per week, but El Carmen in Valencia also offers the option of 4, 6, 10 or 20 group lessons in one week, which can also be combined with 5 private lessons. For when you need more space to learn at your pace.”

I have level A2, but my husband is a complete beginner. We are planning to start the course on the same day. Will we be in the same group?
“Even if you start the course on the same day you will be placed in different groups as you have different level of Spanish. The school will send you an online level test which you need to complete 1-2 weeks before your arrival so you could be placed in the right group with the students who have the same level like you. Your husband does not need to complete a level test. He will be placed in a group for complete beginners. ”

“The intensive courses are in the morning and afternoon. The students can choose but it always depends on availability.
Morning classes are from 9:10 - 11:10 and 11:30 - 13:30.
Afternoon classes are from 15:00 - 17:00.
If you have a preference, then the school tries it's best to match this. Please note any preferences in the remarks in your booking.
