What we dislike about the school

Location: West London English School is located in the cosmopolitan and historic, capital city of England, London. The school is in the heart of Ealing Broadway, surrounded by many shops, cafés, restaurants and several parks. The Ealing Broadway Train and Underground station, is within a 10-minute walk of the school, ensuring students have easy access to all the city and its surrounding areas have to offer.

Accreditations and Associations: A family-run, privately-owned school that is accredited by the British Council, West London English School works with the aim that all students learn effectively, enjoy an incomparable experience, and achieve their goals.

Course selection: Course selection consists of General English, Specialist courses in Business and Medical English, Academic IELTS, Preparation for the Occupational English Test (OET) and Junior courses throughout the whole year.

School facilities: The facilities at West London English School include a computer lab, library, free after-class access to language learning software, a movie room and a student support desk for any questions or queries. All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating and ample natural light to create an optimal learning environment.

Getting around: Based outside of London city centre, the West London English School is only a 30-minute train ride from London City and its main attractions.

Accommodation: Accommodation is available through the school in Homestay and Student Residence, throughout the whole year.

“I had three teachers who I really liked. One of them really cared about her students and took the time to explain things properly to them. I really liked the way the classes were run: practising writing, grammar, vocabulary and conversation activities. This really helped me to become fluent. And the fact that the teachers corrected us every time we made a mistake helped enormously. I'm starting WLES again.”
“Sometimes the afternoon programme overlapped with the morning programme. For example, we studied 0/1 conditionals in the morning, and in the afternoon we could find the same grammar.
Then we had a teacher who taught well in the afternoon, but then she went on holiday, and her replacement wasn't very competent. She couldn't answer our questions. Which was very upsetting.”

Could your school provide an offer letter that includes the CAS number and sponsor license information to support my visa application for a short-term student visa?
“Coming from China for a visit, which is shorter than 6 months, you will need to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa, or for any stay longer than 6 months, you will need to apply for the Short Term Study Visa. These two visas will only allow you to study with us.

We welcome students either on the Standard Visitor Visa (stays for less than 6 months) or the Short Term Study Visa (which is for more than 6 months and a maximum of 11 months).

Once the course fees are paid, we can send you the school Acceptance Letter for visa application purposes. In case of a visa refusal, we can issue a refund minus an administration fee of £300.

Please be informed that we don't provide the CAS letter as we don't offer a Student visa at the school here. ”

Where are the West London English School host families located?
“We have hosts that are rated Superior (W5 area) for their close location and we also have some very good experienced Standard rate hosts living slightly further away from the school ( W3, W7 & W13 area). The main difference between Standard and Superior accommodation is the time it takes to reach the school. Superior-rated hosts live within a 10-15 minutes walk to the school and standard-rated hosts live within a 20-30 minutes walk from the school. ”

Can you cook in a homestay at West London English School if you only book the room with self-catering?
“A "room only" booking includes the (light) use of the family kitchen. This means that the kitchen can be used for food preparation, the use of a hob to heat up food, the use of a microwave, and depending on the host, occasional use of an oven.
Hosts prefer students not to cook big meals everyday as the kitchen is shared with the family who have to cook too. ”

“The most intensive formula at this school is the English course with 27 lessons per week. The programme runs from 9:00 to 15:30. The courses are based on the communicative approach, which means that the emphasis is on speaking and listening skills, as well as reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. “We only accept junior students (12 to 16/17 years old) on our full-time Junior English programme in summer, from mid-June to the beginning of September. During the rest of the year, we offer a Junior English programme every Saturday.

Visa Documents

Nationals from Hong Kong do not require a visa to study short term courses up to 180 days. A valid passport and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is required to enter the UK. The application for the ETA is done online https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta. The answer is expected within 3 working days, costing GBP 16. The ETA allows multiple entries in the country for up to 6 months for a maximum of 2 years or until the passport used when applying expires.
Check visa requirements for nationals from other countries.
Nationals from countries that require a visa will receive documents from the school, related to booking confirmation, which is required for the visa application.
