Location: International House St. Julians is located in the popular seaside destination of St. Julians, Malta. The school is housed in a detached villa in the suburb of Swieqi, within a 10-minute walk of the beach in St George's Bay and walking distance of many shops, a multi-screen cinema complex, a bowling alley, bars and local attractions.

Accommodation: There are various options for accommodation available through the school. Such options include homestay facilities with local families, accommodation in residence, and shared apartments.

Course selection: The school provides an extensive range of English courses for students of all levels. In addition to General English taught over various schedules and intensities, IH St. Julians also provides Teacher Training, Exam Preparation (IELTS, CAE, FCE, TOEFL), English for Specific Purposes, Family Packages, Private tuition and Young Learners courses at various times throughout the year. Private tuition is available independently or in conjunction with any other programme.

School facilities: The school facilities include several attributes that enhance the relaxed family environment that IH St. Julians likes to promote. Such facilities include a terrace, garden, and fully air-conditioned classrooms! The main goal of International House’s General English course is to enable you to have confidence when you’re out and about in the real world using English, across as wide a variety of situations as possible. This course is particularly popular with those who are staying in Malta for holiday purposes and would like to improve their level during their stay. Even so, the General course would be appropriate for learners in almost any kind of situation and is not specialised in any particular direction.

In addition to all of the grammar and vocabulary study that you will be undertaking, International House also believes that you learn best by producing language yourself in a communicative context. For this reason, you will also be exposed to a range of activities related to role plays, debates, and free speaking. Something missing from many English courses is preparation for comprehending different accents within the same language, but this is also covered in the programme - contributing to your general preparedness when using English.

"In general, I didn't like it, because I was placed in an advanced group, without any chance of changing it, as only one group was available. I have not received the content of the course, containing the education plan. The teacher's diction was not good, nor was his methodology, and he did not accept different points of view, which hampered my learning. At one point, he gave us an example of a method used for children learning how to speak their mother tongue, but we were a class of adults trying to learn a second language, so I don't see a reason to use the same methodology. Anyway, I wish I could have enjoyed my 4 weeks more. I would have preferred to pay more to get more out of it."

Quality of teaching / language progress: Unfortunately, the level of the lessons did not correspond to my level. I didn't have the feeling that my English was improving as a result of the lessons. I was rather bored. The fluency course in the afternoon did not feel like a lesson to me. Pure small talk with the teacher without a plan or concept. Other comments: Unfortunately, my criticism was only responded to with justifications. I didn't get the feeling that they were really interested in finding a solution. In the end, I was made responsible for the fact that no solution could be found because I didn't show up for class. My contact details were known and I would have been available. I saw that as an excuse. I deliberately didn't show up for class and I didn't want to travel 45 minutes just for a conversation that didn't seem very promising. That was too much of a waste of time.

“The location of the school is excellent, although it is small, but it's not an issue. The welcome to the students is very good, the administration team is always very kind. The director cares about learning and is simply amazing. The only thing I didn't like was my teacher, unfortunately I couldn't change it. I was also upset because at the end of the course, when I received the certificate, we took a picture, me and the director, but one of the school's employee justo forgot to send the picture to me. From this day on I'm waiting... I have even texted him on whatsapp, but I've got no response.”

Quality of teaching / language progress: In general, I didn't like it, because I was placed in an advanced group, without any chance of changing it, as only one group was available. I have not received the content of the course, containing the education plan. The teacher's diction was not good, nor was his methodology, and he did not accept different points of view, which hampered my learning. At one point, he gave us an example of a method used for children learning how to speak their mother tongue, but we were a class of adults trying to learn a second language, so I don't see a reason to use the same methodology. Anyway, I wish I could have enjoyed my 4 weeks more. I would have preferred to pay more to get more out of it.Other comments: Despite not staying at the school's residence, I've visited the place and realized that it may be a great option for young students.
