Positive aspects of school
"High, sometimes demanding level (possibly due to the level of previous knowledge), very good teachers. Afternoon events with an excellent range of activities and very well-prepared (art) history tours."
Negative aspects
"This is certainly unfamiliar for students who are used to media-supported teaching (e.g. smartboards, other media). But it is certainly good for students who prefer traditional analogue learning. During the tours, it would be good to have a sound transmission system, because otherwise individual conversations between the tour guide and individual students tend to develop, and the group is then less able to participate."

City/place
"Nightlife untapped; the only striking geographical feature is the Arno (brown, slow-flowing water that smells foul in places). Shopping: not taken advantage of, but those looking for designer items will find the appropriate shops and can strain their bank accounts. Museums with an overflowing selection, combined with the sights, so to speak, ‘every stone is historic’. Beware of the mostly uneven pavements and stairs; comfortable footwear is recommended."
Accommodation
"Very nice, warm, hospitable and accommodating host family; both excellent cooks."

"From the reception to the lessons there is a warmth and you feel like you are in a big Familie❤️ My angel Daniela helped me a lot, especially because she also speaks German, it brought me a lot, especially the professional explanation of what I learned in the morning. City/place
"As a tourist, I can say that there are too many tourists!!! The city is a good size for me to get to know it in peace and quiet and certainly has several sides that are very exciting to get to know. I was overwhelmed at the beginning and got to like this city over time. I will definitely be back."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"It was exciting to get to know such different people, even of different ages. I liked the way Daniela always tried to involve everyone equally. There was a bit too much grammar, so that in the second week I felt a bit ‘learning fatigue’. This is more of a personal impression."
Accommodation
"A very warm welcome from Rosanna. I felt very comfortable and welcome right from the start. An uncomplicated approach. Willing to help with words and deeds. My language skills benefited greatly thanks to the host family and I was also able to gain an insight into the everyday life of an Italian family. I am very grateful for this time with Rosanna and her family. We have become good colleagues. I would recommend a stay with Rosanna to anyone. The distance to school is average, bus stop is nearby, even different lines. The residential neighbourhood, away from the tourist crowds, was an advantage for me. I could walk or take the bus, a bike would certainly be another good option. I had my privacy and a place to retreat as well as contact with my family. Rosanna enjoys meeting new people and likes to do so."

Positive aspects of school
"Very good teachers, flexibility (I asked if I could take a week's holiday after four weeks and then add on the week of lessons, which was no problem at all), the girls in the office are very helpful, good teaching concept, school is very centrally located near the church of Santa Croce. On the first day, a tour of the city is offered in the afternoon, which is very helpful for orientation if you have just arrived. Apart from that, there are always interesting activities."
Negative aspects
"The school is in a historic building and let's put it this way, it needs to be renovated (classrooms, toilets...). One thing that could be changed really quickly would be to buy more comfortable chairs for the classrooms. I had 6 hours of lessons every day and after 4 hours my bum started to hurt on these hard wooden chairs!"

"I would recommend the school without reservation, even if the facilities are a bit outdated."
City/place
"Florence is a wonderful city, I feel very much at home here. However, I would advise against travelling to Florence in the summer months. It feels like there are 5 million tourists here and that can be a bit exhausting after a while. I was here from 8 August to 4 October. As I will continue to learn Italian privately at home, I will definitely come back to Florence, but not before mid-September. I'm not very sensitive to heat, but in August it was really too much (who would have thought it)."

"Great, varied, beautiful, interesting..."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"I had two hours of grammar and two hours of conversation every day, the level was fitting and it was a great experience to converse in Italian with people from all over the world and of all ages."
Accommodation
"Super nice "landlady" Donatella, who had dinner with me every evening and cooked varied and delicious meals for me. I had a big room in her flat with my own bathroom, super!!! She talked with me a lot, it was like an extra conversation class. I can only recommend it and will definitely do it again!!!"

Positive aspects of school
"My teacher Lorenzo was simply brilliant, both in the grammar courses and in the conversation. Clear, very good quality teaching, interesting and varied topics in the conversations. One would really like to have such dedicated teachers more often. The number of students, between 5-16, depending on the course and week, of different nationalities (from Japan, Philippines, England, China, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland, USA, Germany), was an interesting, enriching mixture and exchange."
Negative aspects
"The activity programme on some afternoons is rather limited, only one per week. There is a programme of excursions by a cooperation partner, with correspondingly higher additional costs, to surrounding towns, regions but rather too main-touristy, for my taste. It was a shame that the Scuola Toscana student card could not be used for any discounts in museums, exhibitions, etc. It was rejected everywhere. The city of Florence should really recognise these cards accordingly, especially since the language students are in the city for two to many weeks and visit and explore a lot, spend some time there and live, supporting the local economy and the city."
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
"Visit museums, exhibitions, churches, typical Florentine restaurants and craft shops. Avoid the mainstream. Explore Florence early in the morning and stroll through the city."

"Very pleasant atmosphere at the Scuola."
City/place
"The city is suffocating in mass tourism, in rubbish, the public transport with buses is an adventure and a disaster. Gentle and sustainable tourism for those really interested in culture is not offered, appreciated or established enough. Online booking for Galeria degli Uffizi and Galeria Academia and museums is too complicated and tedious, sometimes it doesn't work properly. With some shops and restaurants you have to be careful not to get ripped off, but with most of them it's not a problem."
Quality of teaching / language progress
"Good to manage. A solution booklet, possibly as a download after the course, would be advantageous for revision and review at home. Placement test should be timed, too long a test time distorts the result somewhat."
