It is a good idea to get a thick notebook because there is a lot of material to take notes on
Other comments
Overall I would highly recommend it. I'm going for the fourth time and feel I'm making great progress with my studies!
City/place
Ideal for people who - like me - like cities that are not too big, not overcrowded with tourists, crowds of visitors, but full of charming corners, quiet and good as a base for tourist destinations.
Quality of teaching / language progress
Everything suited me. Not too much homework - just the right amount:)
Accommodation
I have used this accommodation option three times now and will definitely return again.

Additional information
Positive aspects of school
I was blown away by the commitment and kindness of the faculty and staff. I have been to other language schools where excursions and classes were cancelled due to low enrolment. NOT HERE! There were no hidden fees like other places. Regardless of my slow retention, I was made to feel special and the patience was HIGH. Their knowledge and how to communicate it was done with grace and joy. The student apartment was one floor above school, and it had all the convenances you would want, including a washing machine. I was here in the winter and I could still walk around the town in t-shirt and jeans. Moreso, as a woman, I felt safe. I made friends that I will be seeing beyond the course time.
Negative aspects
Unfortunately, the school is about 1 1/2-2 hours from Catania Airport. Therefore, you have to rely on public transportation. If you have a lot of luggage, taking the train can be cumbersome since you will have to transfer. The bus and vans are on a specific timetable that may not coordinate with your flight times. The van I took was full; so, it was cramped. The good thing though was a staff person from Laboling (Sonja) picked-me on arrival at the drop-off in Milazzo.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Trattoria La Campagnola, great food near school.
City/place
Fine. It is a small city so it doesn't have lots of traffic, or theatres and such. However, as a place to go for study it's great. On time off there are great places to eat. (Bomboloni are fantastic!) You can get to Aeolian Islands and other places easily.
Accommodation
On arrival you get a list of markets and restaurants in the area with their times of operation. Coming from UK/USA, the food in Milazzo is cheap to buy and delicious.

Positive aspects of school
Elvira managed to explain and paraphrase so well that I, although a complete beginner, understood an amazing amount. Everything was in Italian and I had no vocabulary.
Negative aspects
An evening together in a restaurant, all in Italian. You sit there like someone who is hard of hearing. Only every tenth word is understood. A pity.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The pasta cooking class!
Other comments
Great, super friendly women! They try to help with any problems. Great atmosphere!!
City/place
Milazzo is very beautiful, especially the long beaches. I was impressed by the incredible friendliness of the people towards my dog. That alone is a reason to come back!
Quality of teaching / language progress
The course with Elvira was already a pleasure because of the very likeable teacher. I was only sorry that I understood so little. But that was absolutely not her fault. On the contrary!

Positive aspects of school
Very well organised, contact persons were also available outside office hours, you were encouraged to speak only Italian, Chiara is the best teacher I have ever had.
City/place
Due to its location on the peninsula, the sea is never far away, and the beach is very beautiful, partly because of the view of the Lipari Islands. There are a couple of cultural highlights, but you are not overwhelmed by them. Perfect for a holiday with a language course, for a holiday without anything to do it might be boring. Public transport connections are available, but if you often want to go on excursions to Palermo or Catania etc., it is a bit of a hassle. On the other hand, there is little international tourism, which I liked.
Accommodation
The apartment is one floor above the school, you can't get there any faster.

Insider tips about what future students should not miss
Don't attend school in January, because the school has less activities and there are very few students there. I was alone for three weeks, and for the first two weeks there where only 2 activities. I had a hard time finding stuff to do in the evenings. When other students arrived at the school, the learning process went faster. There were more activities and the evening was more eventful.
Other comments
Overall I lived with a great Italian family and the teachers were very good. I would recommend this school to others. :)

Positive aspects of school
The freindly atmosphere. All the staff are extremely helpful in any issue so, really you do not have to worry about anything because you can always ask for good advice. The teaching quality was excellent. The classes were very well structured and we had the chance to speak, read, listen etc. We also had homework which I found good. In the classes, we learned a lot about the culture, eating habits etc. so it was more than just learning a language. I loved the location of the school - near the promenade, shops and bars so the breaks were varied. I sat on the seafront 30 min before classes began and read an easy book in Italian. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The offer of free time activities is excellent. When we went on guided tours or trips, we had highly competent guides that explained all in very clear and understandable Italian. Even the newcomers could grasp the main issues.
Insider tips about what future students should not miss
The free time activities; the castle; the Capo; the boat trips to the islands. Good food in the restaurants nearby - try dishes recommended. Try typical Sicilian fast food, ice cream, Granita etc.

Student accommodation is good. Be careful of family accommodation. Mine was not acceptable. Bit of a shock really. Also I was the only student in my class and was only told this on my first morning. It worked out well as the teacher was excellent but it would have been better and perhaps less challenging to be part of a group. I did feel a bit alone as students in the other class had excellent Italian.
Other comments
Paid for 2 weeks B&B and evening meal, left for student accommodation for second week which was above the school and much better (space wise), but of course had to buy my own food etc. I did ask about some monetary refund, but was told that this was not possible. I do believe that for goodwill alone this would have been a nice gesture. Even € 30.00 which is not a lot seeing as I paid over €1000.00 for two weeks.

The oregano-gathering in the mountains turned out to be both a great nature experience as well as an entertaining contact with locals. Very worth it!
Other comments
The school is small and thus very familiar. The disadvantage of this is the small number of language levels. When I was in Milazzo, I was the only participant at an advanced level. They offered me to get time reduced individual lessons or to attend classes on the next lowest level (which I've done since I also appreciated the contact with other students). The teacher made great efforts to design the lessons in a way that I also benefited, but from a genuine C1 level I would have had more.

Attend the play at Tindari. Don't miss the trip to Capo Milazzo. Take a cooking course. Don't miss anything at this excellent school.

I LOVED this school!!! I've attended other schools throughout Italy, and this one tops them all. The entire staff is top-notched and devoted to tailoring the instruction to your needs. The classes are small and intense. Franco, the founder and director, and his partner, Francesca, are directly involved with the daily activities, hosting students in their home and taking them on trips. Everyone is treated like family. Lots of opportunities to practice Italian in Milazzo, where people are friendly and kind. The town is gorgeous, surrounded on all sides by the sea. The student apts are well-furnished and are located right above the school, so you just roll out of bed and into class. I hope to go back!!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful not only in lectures even in giving info about the city as well. We were picked up from the train station and delivered straight to our accomodation. Also, Milazzo is a very good place to learn italian because there are very few tourists, and few english-speakers, so what you learn in class has to be applied in real life right away.
