Why Puerto Escondido? Puerto Escondido is a water lovers paradise known for its many beaches and buzzing nightlife. It offers coastal lagoons, exotic birds and several species of turtles and is an ideal place for surfing, parachuting and diving. Playa Zicatela is over 3km of golden sand and crashing waves and would make most most surfers top ten list of the world’s best surfing beaches. The town’s central Beach is lined with palm trees and thatch-roofed bars. The town itself is small and mellow where Mexicans, expats and world travellers intermingle, and also where ancient civilisations, colonial architecture and living traditions converge.
