What our students said about Guanajuato

Rating: 4/5

This is a dynamic, colorful city full of street vendors and at night a fiesta atmosphere. I felt very safe here and admired the well-maintained sidewalks. The ups and downs of the alleyways were a challenge at first. I wish the theaters had been open in February. If I go back, I will try to hit the Cervantes festival in the fall. Climate is great. A little cool at night.

It has beautiful nature, so much history, and an abundance of things to do. I felt safe walking around alone. It's easy to take a bus to Leon, San Miguel De Allende and a lot of other places for a day or weekend trip. It's a very affordable city with an abundance of street food to eat on a budget, but there is also a lot of fine dining if you want to be fancy!

I❤️GTO. Such a beautiful city& in an amazing setting surrounded by mountains and high desert. Always stuff to do! Everything was accessible due to the size of the city. I always felt safe, went where I wanted to and when.

Guanajuato is DRY!!! Pay far more attention to hydration, both internal and external, while you'r'e there, than you might be used to. The city is gorgeous. One of the most beautiful cities I have had the pleasure to visit.

A city to relax in! I extended by 1 week to 3 weeks and could have stayed even longer. If I can, I would like to come back to Guanajuato for at least 2 weeks.

Personalized teaching in small groups
The teacher, Mari, was a friendly person who laughed a lot. Every Friday we practiced conversation over breakfast at a restaurant with a great view, which was also very enjoyable.

The teachers at Plateros Spanish School are super nice and know their job. They know what's important and how to teach you best. And yet they all have their own style. I was thrilled! You could always discuss the pace with them, arrange repetitions or clarify questions. Many thanks to Roman, Mali, Miriam and Ismael! I feel very well equipped with the basics and can build on it on my travels.

Lessons concentrate too much on grammar and reading/writing and no enough on speaking fluency and pronunciation. Teachers speak too fast using vocabulary and tenses that were never taught, and if students do not understand, they simply say it in English, rather that repeating it slower or writing it on the board. Very frustrating.

Too many positive aspects! The teachers were talented, helpful, interesting and friendly! The classes were fun and relevant- never boring or long. I always felt engaged and was able to work on what I needed/wanted. Homework and in class exercises provided lots of practice! Lots of individual attention. I also loved the setting- so beautiful and homey. The location in El Centro is amazing too.

  • It is possible to make your own accommodation arrangements and book only a course using our service.
There is a wide variety of accommodations in the local area, and some of them are cheaper than those arranged by the school.
However, please be aware that the areas where accommodation is inexpensive are often not the safest places to stay.
If you are familiar with Guanajuato, that is fine, but if you are unfamiliar with the area, it would be very risky to look for an apartment.
Also, since your planned stay in Guanajuato is not long (8 weeks), it would be safer for you to have your accommodation arranged by the school.
