What we like about the school
  • On-site indoor swimming pool.
  • Fully equipped gym.
  • E-learning platform.
  • #1 TOP rated in London by students 18-30 years
What we dislike about the school
  • Lessons are 45 minutes long, which is shorter than in other schools.

Location: Twin School is located in the East of London, in the borough of Greenwich. It is to the south of the area, with lots of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops around. Greenwich Park is a short walk from the school. Here, students can also visit the Palace of Placentia, the Queen's House and the National Maritime Museum.

Getting around: Just under 10 minutes by foot from Twin School is the Maze Hill Train Station. There is both the Southeastern Service and the Thameslink Service. These services reach the centre of London in around 20 minutes. The nearest tube station is North Greenwich, a station on the Jubilee line, which is close to The O2 Stadium. This is a 8-minute bus ride from Twin School. Bus stations are plentiful on the streets around the school, making it easy to travel around the capital city. It is 30 minutes by public transportation from the London City Airport.

Course structure: The school has general English courses in a range of intensities. Twin School also specialises in extra communication skills that can be added to a general English programme or held as a part-time course. There are also IELTS exam preparation courses.

Business Courses: There are specialist business modules that can be attached to a general English course. Furthermore, there are professional volunteering opportunities, which come as a package with general English lessons.

Twin English Centres believe, through their experience, that students learn the most by following an approach that covers all of the different areas of language development equally. For this reason, you can expect to work on your English speaking and listening, pronunciation, reading and writing, and grammar and vocabulary.

Throughout the experience you will take part in project-based learning, as well as communicative activities, to ensure that your classes are engaging. The academy provides an online platform to supplement the experience that they offer in class, allowing students to access all of their coursework.

“The school is very modern and has got all technologies you need!”
“The one-to-one lesson wasn’t worth it. Too expensive.”
Details of the review
Quality of teaching / language progress: Three lessons per day were totally enough! Other comments: Maybe the courses should be more mixed. I was in one course with almost only students from Italy and they could speak Italian with each other.
Course: General English Morning - 1 week
Review date: 26. Aug. 2024 by Amelie Larsen
Verified student who booked this course with LanguageCourse.net.
Overall rating

“The facilities are modern. The building is of recent construction.

The teachers I met are very good and competent.”
“The school is a bit chaotic and does not have good logistics regarding the organization of new students.

They do not make a correct allocation of the level of English so the classes are affected by a notable imbalance between the level of English of the students, which considerably affects the learning and evolution of English.

I do not recommend it especially if you are an adult. They have a lot of teenagers, sometimes these have a commitment to themselves to learn the language, but rather that of their parents.”
Insider tip: “Not recommended for adults (25 and over).”
Details of the review
Other comments: Poor organization, level assignment, good teachers.

“The lessons given by one of the teachers were very good.”
“The first day was chaotic. The introduction took too long, some students had already taken the placement test beforehand, but most of them hadn't. I didn't have any lessons on the first day because it ‘wasn't worth it’. I paid for the 3 hours anyway.”

“Classes with Rachel were great, lessons with other teachers were not that good.”
“There were too many students in groups, the students' levels”
Insider tip: “If the group is inadequate in terms of language level, you should report it immediately and request change of group.”
Details of the review
Quality of teaching / language progress: The inaccuracy in the selection of the level of participants in the group meant that for the first two weeks I was in a group that was too weak linguistically and it was difficult for me to make progress. After the change (due to the low level of the group, there were also few activities to practice communication, linguistic interaction), the group was much better on a higher level. Pair and group work allowed for language progression. The teachers were different and were also differently involved in the lessons. Rachel was great.

“I liked the teaching process and they paid attention to your level and got the best teacher for your language skills to be developed”
“I wouldn't say I liked that the air conditioner was set too cold and easily could caught a cold.
The organisation of the first day was chaos.
We filled out everything before, but due to one more language oral assessment, we waited the whole morning for the level of us and our own group.”

Questions and answers about Twin School

Could your school provide an offer letter that includes the CAS number and sponsor license information to support my visa application for a short-term student visa?
“We don’t issue CAS for a General English course. We can issue a VISA letter for visa purposes.”
Paula Camargo, Admission Team from Twin School, London - Aug 15, 2025
If I book accommodation with breakfast only, can I use the kitchen?
“If the same school gives you the option to choose half board or full board, as is the case, you will not have the right to use the kitchen if you only choose breakfast.”
Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - May 09, 2023

FAQ about Twin School, London

Where do volunteer hours take place?
“Volunteering depends on your starting level of English and your preferred sector, if available. The main sectors are retail, customer service, marketing, human resources, tourism and hospitality. ”
Veronica Romualdi, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 12, 2025
I am considering a study holiday in London in the summer for my son. What can you tell me about the Twin School in London? I would prefer accommodation in the college. Is the course suitable for a boy who already has a good foundation in school English? The boy is almost 18 at the time of the course and I would like the other participants to be more or less of a similar age.
“Twin School is definitely a good choice, it is a school chain in various locations, and recognised by the British Council. Residence accommodation is reserved for students over 18 years of age, unless you decide to enrol your child in a junior programme - in this type of programme, minors can also stay in the residences as supervision by school staff is guaranteed. London Twin participants have an average age of 20 during the summer and 25 during the rest of the year (as of today, 2024). ”
Veronica Romualdi, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Mar 22, 2024
In which zone part of London is this school located?
“Twin School London is located in Greenwich, Zone 2, while central London is Zone 1. The exact address of the school is 12 Lambarde Square - SE10 9GB London. ”
Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 11, 2023
Can you tell me more about the Junior courses? Are they given by native speakers?
“As far as the lessons are concerned, they are 3-4 hours a day and yes, they are taught by native teachers.
Madly Simba, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Aug 07, 2023
Can students under 18 stay in the school residence?
“No, the residences are only for students over 18. For younger students we can offer accommodation in a host family”
Paula Camargo, Regional Sales Manager from Twin School - Jul 22, 2022
Twin School offers courses for which ages?
“Twin School offers courses from 10 years (Junior English Tuition, 20 lessons per week) to 99. Average age is 20 during the summer and 25 for the rest of the year.”
