Cork English World accredited by ACELS
Just across the River Lee, in the engaging Irish city of Cork, is Cork English World. Cork is the third largest city in Ireland and although reasonably small, it is jam packed with things to see. Cork has some interesting local food treats for those interested, and these can be tried and tested in the English Market or in one of the many cultural festivals and fetes that frequent the city. The city has two cathedrals, and the most spectacular one, the gothic Fin Barre's Cathedral, is opposite Cork English World. The Crawford Gallery is a great way to view the local art with over 1000 art pieces using a number of different mediums. All of the inner city attractions are within a 20 minute walking circumference of the school. There are also attractions outside the city which are well worth a visit including the Cork City Gaol Museum, Blarney Castle and the Cork Butter Museum. A quick walk across the River Lee and students can find a well connected bus station for trips outside the city centre. Cork has all you can need for a stay, with local pubs, restaurants, bars and shops and the nightlife is true to the Irish reputation. The city has its own international airport but for those coming into the city from the capital city of Dublin, there are frequent bus and train services which generally take about 3 hours. The architecture throughout the city is of a Georgian style and this is reflected in the beautiful school building at Cork English World. Inside the school the facilities are modern and the atmosphere homely. The teachers are up to date with the current teaching methodology and there is an inhouse teacher training programme to ensure that the students receive the best teaching possible during their stay at Cork English World. To accompany a range of different general English classes available, the school also offers its students the opportunity to join an exam preparation course in either the IELTS exam course or FCE Cambridge Exam, both of which are credible English exams that can be used for employment or further education. The Irish are known for their friendliness and the school offers its students a number of after class activities that can be joined by simply signing up to them in reception. These include a free weekly conversation class, half day excursions, visits to local attractions, evening socialising at local taverns and at times a full day excursion. More
