What our students said about Dublin

I fell in love with this city full of life and interesting architecture. It is well connected and the locals are very friendly and welcoming. There are many places to visit in the city itself: museums, the James Joyce Centre, Trinity College as well as outside: beaches along the coast, castles e.g. Malahide Castle, cliffs e.g. Howth. Life in the pubs is buzzing in the afternoon - live music draws people in and encourages them to party together.

5.0Bożena Poland

Dublin is a big city and does not represent Ireland. Like so many other cities, it has the peculiarities of cleanliness, rubbish, nightlife and its effects, as well as poverty and its consequences in some neighbourhoods. Bus and train travel is very affordable and media savvy, times and tickets are easy to acquire. The city has many sights. The museums are also recommended and admission is free or very low.

4.0Ayla Germany

Just a lovely city which I highly recommend. Many different things to do, so for everyone should be something interesting available. Lots of public transports and nice people anyway. The city is big but not too big so you can see a lot by walking around. Nice pubs, friendly and open minded people and for me a city we should have seen once in life.

5.0Andrea Germany

There are certain areas which can be unsafe, and there are lots of homeless people and people drinking and smoking everywhere. It's also difficult to speak English with locals as there are a huge number of foreign people living there. It's expensive to live there too. However, there are beautiful places to visit in the city and along the coast.

3.0Luz Maria Spain

A very friendly town, I lived in a very quiet residential area and well served by public transport, the teacher provided me with his bicycle for shorter trips, such as going to the gym and doing small shopping trips. We went on several trips out of town, all of which were interesting.

5.0Luciano Italy

The people are very friendly. Most speak English, not Gaelic. The cost of living is expensive: restaurants, clothes, lodging, etc. In the city center, everything is concentrated: everything is close by; in the other neighborhoods it is not, everything is very spread out.

5.0Maria Dolores Spain

Dublin is the most expensive city in Europe that I have seen so far. There is a lot of fast food - very unhealthy! The pubs are very casual but at the same time expensive. There are very interesting double buses that run very often, but the tickets are insanely expensive!

4.0Temenuzhka Hristova Germany

Dublin is a very charming city. There are many pubs, shops and very charming places to visit. As far as getting around is concerned, it's easy to get around on foot or by bus. But it's a bit risky to get around by bike, as there aren't enough cycle paths.

4.0Maxime France

Dublin is a must to go, definitely. People are lovely. The city is so vibrant. The school is awesome and the teachers are of a high level as well. I had a wonderful time here. Best choice ever! I strongly recommends Alpha College!

5.0Ana Cristina Brazil

Dublin is a very attractive city to live in and make new friends, but the housing problem makes it very difficult to find relative stability. The price of a private room is exorbitant, so it has become normalized to share a room.

5.0Pablo Spain

What language school directors said about Dublin

Jonathan Quinn

Dublin is a very historic city but it is very young at heart. The city has a thriving social, musical and cultural scene. Our famous pubs are a huge attraction and create a wonderful atmosphere around our city.

Jonathan QuinnDirector of Centre of English Studies (CES), has lived in Dublin since 1995

Dublin has a young, vibrant and friendly nature, allowing people to quickly feel at home. Dublin has been voted Third Friendliest City in the World.

Mauro BiondiDirector of Emerald Cultural Institute, has lived in Dublin since 1980

Ireland is an increasingly popular destination for students looking to study English, and thanks to Ireland’s position as a multicultural and progressive country, non-EU students also have the chance to gain work experience while studying on a full time course. The Irish are known for their friendly and helpful disposition, and the country boasts breath-taking scenery, historic towns and cities, wonderful cultural diversity and incredible areas of natural beauty. That is why Ireland is fast becoming one of the most popular study and work destinations in the world!

Andreza Rocha de RezendeDirector of OHC English , has lived in Dublin since 2018

Information about Dublin

Why Dublin? Dublin is a energetic and cultural capital. It has a lot to offer such as theatres, art galleries and historic sights. The city also hosts the Customs House, the Four Courts and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The Irish are known for their friendliness and this is very evident in their capital. Why not frequent with the locals by trying their famous beverage, Guinness, in one of the many pubs around the capital. Learn more about this unique drink in the Guinness Storehouse Factory. Dublin is a very manageable size for a capital and is a great base to explore all this beautiful country has to offer!
What we like about Dublin

One thing for sure is that you will have a good craic in Dublin! The social life here is fantastic with a lively night scene full of locals in their famous Irish pubs.Irish people are extremely friendly and it is easy to integrate into a group of friends. The city is a much more manageable size than other capital cities, such as London. It is easy to navigate and accommodation options will not be so far from your school of choice. Aside from the few hot spots for tourist crime, the city is safe, but it is still best to err on the side of caution especially at night. Dublin is home to a well connected International Airport. It is close to the centre and there are plenty of bus connections to bring you to and from the city. So book your flights now and grab a Guinness in one of the local pubs!

What we dislike about Dublin

Dublin has an extensive network of public transport, which unfortunately is not the most reliable and at times can be slow. The city is small though, so students may not need to rely on public transport to get to where they want to go. A popular expression for the weather in Dublin is that there are 4 seasons in one day. The climate is often changeable with little warning. It is best to be prepared for all eventualities when leaving your accommodation in the morning.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about English courses in Dublin

I am looking for a school in Dublin for my 17-year-old son preferably in residence.
We collaborate with many schools in Dublin. Usually residence accommodation is intended for students over 18 years of age, unless it is a Junior programme, where packages consist of language course + activity programme + accommodation in a host family or student residence (with supervision).
Veronica Romualdi, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 26, 2024
We wish to accompany our 13-year-old son to Dublin to attend an English course while we take a vacation.
In this case we recommend a junior course:
Intended for juniors and children, these language courses are part of a package that includes language studies, room and board, and organized activities with other students of the same age group. These programmes are usually seasonal with preset start and end dates. They fill up quickly, so it is a good idea to book well in advance.
Cinzia Carli, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Dec 27, 2022
Are there any set dates for the course at English for Teachers?
Yes, there are set dates, usually at least a couple of dates for the April-July period, and sometimes a couple in October.
Antonio Zoppo, Language Travel Consultant from LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 10, 2022
May I ask you why do not exist more than 10 hours per week in the non-online program?
I'd like to learn but 20 hours per week at least...
The best way to find the result you are looking for is by refining your search. Please click on Dublin via our ranking listings under Ireland, and then select the course type, dates and length of the course you require via our course finder tool. You shall find there are many in-house programmes that offer more than 10 hours of tuition per week.

The evaluations by students after they complete a course is excellent. The discount for using your website is also a great incentive. It also would be wonderful if the website would include more cities and a bigger selection of schools in each city.
Basil Havens verified client
