Individual classes helped me a lot. But, I had 2 hours each day, in the afternoon. Therefore, I could not participate in many of the activities, since they started early in the afternoon.

Too bad that the course duration is too short. It would have been more effective to complete courses at 13h instead of 12h, especially since it is a half hour break

I loved my month in CIAL. People are very nice and helpful, and it is also a very good opportunity to meet new people and start friendships for life with other students! Afternoon activities are a very ggod option to spend time and get to know the city, and also to know the other students and practice portuguese! The only 'bad' thing of the schhol is the organisation: it may happen that new people come on Mondays, and the professor would do the same programme again, so if you arrived one week earlier, you will be obliged to do everthing once again.

The teachers and the students ! I had the chance to attend the classes of 4 of them; all are amazing people not only because of their competencies. They turned out to be interesting, kind, patient, funny and helpful. I wish all future pupils could meet Ana, Isabel, Orlando and last but not least, Carlos. I must have been lucky. The students ! I now have an American and Bulgarian friend. This has no value...

Additional program in the afternoon. Above all Belem!
Other comments
They have no separation between grammar and conversation class. That means that there is only 1 theacher (and 1 kind of pronunciation). Usually in language-schools this separation exists. I think it ist important to know this. Some colleagues said that they were in families who did not talk to them. I was lucky, my mum was retired and happy to have someone to talk to.

If you can afford it, choose individual classes as opposed to group, much more effective and more value for your money.

The school is in general ok, however there is a lot of time wasting involved, classes not starting on time etc. In terms of social activities, from my experience people rarely went to the weekend excursions, as they were usually a lot cheaper to do by yourself. the friday night dinners however are a great way of meeting new people!

It is a really good language school. Teachers are highly qualified. I really advise it and I'll come back for sure. I expected more interactive oral exercises. There were really few during the whole course. This is the only weakness that I should underline.

I loved the atmosphere in the school, in the afternoon we went to different places-museums, old town -with our guide and I definitely improved my Portuguese in only two weeks. The course was very intense, but great. And I loved the old beautiful building in the Actor Taborda street 55.

Being able to start each monday is a good thing but has the disadvantage that classes (and learning topics) can change every week. The organised week-end trips are quite expensive, I would advise you to do them on your own.
