Positive aspects of school
"Loved José as a teacher. I appreciated that we didn't break into groups or pairs and work with each other but rather that he taught us the whole time. He was clear and fun. I learned a lot about the rules behind the grammar and finally understood certain concepts that I had struggled with."
Negative aspects
"I liked the school very much. The excursions weren't ones I was interested in but it wasn't an issue for me. It must be hard to provide excursions that would work for a wide variety of ages and experiences."

"Good organisation, friendly teachers."
Negative aspects
"Some of the teachers taught at a somewhat slow pace and the workbook was a bit boring at times (but good for learning vocabulary). In terms of grammar, I was wrongly placed at the beginning, the grammar that I was still missing had been covered the week before and the teacher was sometimes annoyed that she had to repeat it."

"The school is located in a good residential area close to the subway.
The atmosphere is familiar, the teachers are committed. Great excursions are offered on the weekends at fair prices. My highlight was rafting in the Andes☺️. There are also smaller activities, some of which are free, during the week, but not every day.
Personal learning wishes are addressed in individual lessons."
Negative aspects
"There is no library - which didn't bother me personally."

City/place
"Santiago is strategically located very well: you can be either by the sea or in the Andes in 1.5/2 hours.
There are lots of great parks and free museums.
Personally, I had no problems regarding security. Of course I had few valuables with me. As a woman, I didn't feel any more unsafe than in Germany."

"Instructor- America is a provincial person with little knowledge of the greater world. When I asked her to explain to the class the difference between a la derecha and derechos, she refused and said I was giving her a rash with my politics. On another occasion when we were doing an exercise regarding colours I explained to America that subtle colour differences were becoming difficult to me as I am becoming colour blind, she laughed at the idea of colour-blindness, I don't think she had ever been exposed to this concept. In general, overtime America made me feel unwelcome and I did not finish the last afternoon class."

I was there for a month and never had the opportunity to go to the winery with the school.
I wanted a shared flat with other students, but ended up living with the 60 year-old owners of the flat. Towards the end, they have stayed at home all day long and I felt very uncomfortable. I would advice others to ask about this before arriving."

"Friends,
There is something I didn't like about the accommodation.
I had to change accommodation because The Bella Vista Hostel is one of the most horrible places i have ever seen in my life. Really bad organised, they don't speak Spanish but the worst part is related to the cleaning conditions of the "rooms". A lot of rubbish and very low quality of service.
I think it is an excellent place for horror movies. Then, I moved to the Monte Verde Apart Hotel, great quality and excellent service.

"I had a good time at this school for 2 months. The school atmosphere is nice and warm, well organised and teachers are very nice, also the location is very convenient. (about 3 minute walk from a subway station). Everybody has to take the morning lessons (group course) and we study grammar in the morning so if you have already studied grammar and want to study conversation mainly, you have to take private lessons. I haven't studied grammar before so it was very good for me. I'd like to visit them again some day!"

"The organization was very poor. I was never contacted prior to arrival about my homestay or the airport pick-up that are supposed to be part of the price. Furthermore I tried for a month to contact them before arrival and was not answered until the day I arrived at the school. there was also no way to contact them over the weekend or to find out how to get to my homestay or who i would be staying with."

"If you're a complete beginner but you're serious about learning Spanish, I'd suggest you take a language course in your home country before traveling --- the whole language immersion experience will be easier and much more effective after you have a foundation to build on."
