The Central German state of Hessen is known for its woodland, castles and the vibrant city of Frankfurt, the state's capital city. Frankfurt is the largest city in the region and the most important financial city in Germany. The city is to the South of the region and runs along the River Main. The Städel Museum, the town hall Römer and the botanical gardens of Palmengarten are amongst the most important things to see whilst in Frankfurt. Hessen is home to the quaint town of Rüdesheim am Rhein, famous for its production of Riesling wine and historical monuments. Another intersting town in Hessen is the Roman spa town of Wiesbaden.
