What our students said about Tours
Tours was perfect as a city to live and study in. It's a medium-sized, student city so is quite lively with lots of activities available. From live shows to shopping to movie theatres, you name it. There's always something to do, and the public transport was easy to use to get around, especially with the tram line. The people were friendly, and the rivers were beautiful to walk along.
Lots of restaurants for tourists, lots of students, lots of (arrogant) French people who go out in groups and do not like to talk to strangers (like almost everywhere else), if you look for something posh for older people not much on offer. Nice river, but due to the heat it didn't have much water. Nice forest area around Indre, other than that unremarkable
Tours is a beautiful city, with an equally beautiful main square that invites you to linger and find tranquillity. In the evening, however, it is very lively. By the way, the most understandable, pure French is spoken in the Tours region - the right place for a language course.
A small but very pleasant town, far from the big cities. The Loire River is also perfect for short walks in the countryside. Everything a tourist must-see is within walking distance and just a few minutes away.
Tours is a little bigger and busier than I expected, but many beautiful old buildings and lovely places to sit and have a drink or a coffee. Don't miss the Botanic Gardens!
It is considerably lacking in anything to do. The local pastime for both locals and tourists is alcohol consumption, so having fun without drinking is difficult.
Tours is a nice sized city, not too big, not too small. Easy to get around by foot.
I prefer small cities so Tours is an excellent place to live and study.
Very good, but difficult to access the castles to be visited.
Tours is great but can be a bit loud at times in the center.
