Why Biarritz? An elegant seaside town in the south west of France, Biaritz has been a popular resort since the 1800s. It’s also a major surfer hangout, offering long sandy beaches and lots of surf schools. Although the seaside town has retained much of its glamour, a lot has been lost due to the countless concrete buildings that have been built in recent years. Nevertheless, Biarritz remains one of the southwest's seaside gems and throngs with visitors in summer. The Rocher de la Vierge is a rocky outcrop topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary and can be reached by footbridge, a top it offers fabulous views of the Bay of Biscay.

The students and teachers were as friendly as their families. The break time and lunchtime were all spent on the terrace, which led to an improvement in French. It was great that all the teachers knew each and every one. And I liked it because I liked the well-balanced class matched to the students, as well as the grammar statements.
It was nice that there was surfing for the afternoon class. There are free coffee and tea, so it was a very satisfying school.

I would like, that the teachers should have programs for learning for 2, 3, 4 weeks. I started with the subjunctive during the first week. I find that this is not the most important lesson. It would be fine to talk about everyday life, the school-system, the history or the habits, the conditions of this country to get used to the language and to learn important vocabulary you need everyday. With the written and oral tests, the school should see what lessons are important for the pupils and so they could organize the class.

The teaching
As I said directly to the school management, you must do more to include all, regardless of age, and how long you are registered for a course.

The atmosphere of the building. The very helpful, kind staff.
The classification of the students should be more organized. There is too big a difference in level among the students. Also, the teachers should share the information of the students when there is a change in teachers.

The family environment and relaxed atmosphere, the teachers' professionalism and the availability, the different age range of students (which also allows a generational confrontation in the debates)

The debates we had in and out of the classrooms. Everybody was always sympathetic, kind and friendly.
It could be a good idea to make more intensive programs, with no only three hours a day, but 4 or 5 hours.

One can learn a lot in a short time, but due to the small number of students the classes were held with the advanced students which was discouraging and disturbing.
I was sick last week and could not come to school. I contacted the school before I left, no reaction

The fact that a beginner learns very quickly and is very excited about to speak. The teachers meet the requirements of the individual students. The classes took place in small groups. The aperitif at one of the evenings, organized for the students.

One teacher was really professional, giving good structured lessons. Another teacher, so it seemed, was just teaching anything without a clear concept.
As I already took a French class once in Montpellier I had something to compare with. So what was poor in this school in Biarritz is that there were only 2 different levels / classes!! Hence students with different levels were grouped in one class together. This does not help anybody. For some students with a lower level the teaching was too fast and the ones with an advanced level do not really improve their knowledge because they always have to wait until the teacher explained to the lower level ones.
