What our students said about Bologna
I adore Bologna and will definitely go back. It is centrally located and is wonderful for public transport. It is easy to jump on the train and be in Milan in 1 hour, Naples in 4 and I also visited Innsbruck as there is a direct train to there and Munich. It has frequent buses but I mainly walked around the city as it is not particularly big. There is a bus that takes you outside the city to wonderful scenery and countryside. It has a great energy (I think because of the young students) and there is a great nightlife. I often walked alone late at night and always felt safe. The food is wonderful and there are loads of great bars and restaurants to eat in.
The city is beautiful und because there are portici everywhere, you are actually protected from the sun and rain almost all the time. I never needed my sunglasses. The food is really extremely good everywhere, the city is not yet so overcrowded in terms of tourism (like Venice or Verona, for example) & you really feel that you are moving among Italians, which of course makes the feeling of being alive even nicer. I can absolutely recommend the city!
Bologna is a lovely, charming, and wonderful city. Unlike Florence, it's thankfully not quite as overrun with tourists. It has a lot of charm. It has a lot to offer culturally. And the surrounding area is absolutely attractive. I've taken some really nice bike rides.
I love the porticoes in the historic center of Bologna. What a cultural heritage! And the leaning towers, Asinelli and Garisenda, the symbol of the town. There are not many tourists in the city, how nice! The atmosphere is friendly of Bologna "dotta, grassa e rossa".
Beautiful city, the feeling that is in the center of everything :D First of all, in the city itself a lot of interesting and beautiful places to get around and see, great food and also liked the fact that you can easily get to other cities are not less interesting.
I loved the city. It is very walkable. It is a beautiful city, very old. It is big enough to have plenty to do and small enough to get around. Also everyone is really nice and lets you speak in Italian even if you are not very good and if you take a long time.
I was delighted to choose Bologna for these 15 days of study. It's a very pretty city, very clean, with lots of historic monuments, and you get the impression you're travelling back in time. You can get around by train without spending too much money.
The town, with its many students and young people, radiates pure joie de vivre. The Italians enjoy eating and drinking, being together. In April, the temperatures are very pleasant. In August, it is unbearably hot and humid, I was told by locals.
Interesting city with many tourist attractions. Good mix of population. Public transport: Bus connections are sometimes poor, especially at weekends. Timetables not clear. Bus stops are not displayed on the bus, difficult for non-locals.
A beautiful city where I have been on holiday several times. Sights like Momba, San Luca, the towers, various churches, the Pinacotec and the Archaeological Museum, just like the whole atmosphere, not to mention the colours of the city.
Most recent student reviews of language schools in Bologna

They have very good teachers who are very good at teaching and language. I was lucky that two of the three teachers were a great fit. I felt very well integrated into the group. The group was very homogeneous in terms of learning and performance levels, and therefore the learning was optimal.
The good teachers incorporated films, music, and images from the internet into the work. This worked wonderfully and was very helpful. They were very helpful with questions about my living situation and organized a one-day extension for me. That was very friendly and good.

Q&A - Questions about Italian courses and schools in Bologna
Are there any cooking classes in English available?
I would like to attend a course with my girlfriend. Is it possible to live in a shared flat in Bologna and share a double room?
I would like to do Bildungsurlaub Hessen in Bologna. Can you offer me something?
At A.L.C.E. you can choose 30 group lessons, which makes the course a lot cheaper, but this school would prefer you to start on the first Monday of the month.
Make sure that you complete 30 lessons, because this is the only way to get recognised in Hesse. This is the case with both of the schools mentioned. ”
