How our students rated their experience in Tenerife
What our students said about Tenerife
Tenerife is versatile and with the Teide you have almost all climatic zones on the island. Santa Cruz has a great big city character and you can find everything you can expect. The rural areas above the coast are relatively densely built up. A lot of industry and energy systems can be found on the south coast. In this respect, Puerto de la Cruz is the ideal place.
Germany
I'm not particularly interested in Puerto de La Cruz and I don't perceive it "as a city". The small historic centre still has flair and I like it. But I travelled to this tourist stronghold exclusively because of the course. (I like Tenerife's capital Santa Cruz very much "as a city").
Germany
Tenerife has a lot more to offer than beaches but if you want sun in winter it’s best to go to the south of the island as Puerto de la Cruz has a lot of clouds and rain. You can catch a local bus to the southern resorts at weekends for GBP 10 return.
England UK
I have been a frequent visitor to the island and the town of Puerto de la Cruz has become my favorite. The island is so beautiful and there are so many places to visit that are also culturally interesting.
Sweden
My assessment was of the town of Adeje, which could desperately do with a pedestrian zone. Tenerife's south is very crowded with tourists in November.
Germany
I have visited the island many times, and stayed in several locations, but the Northern part is my favourite. I might move here when I retire.
Sweden
Very good place to study in summer with pleasant temperatures. For young people, the nightlife is missing but I liked it.
Spain
I lived in Puerto de la Cruz and the rating refers to this city. I was only "sightseeing" in Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
Austria
Puerto de la Cruz - very nice and green, always a bit of wind, location perfect, very friendly people
Germany
It is great but a lot of people working in cafes and restaurants are trying to cheat on bills
Poland
The lack of a beach in the city is partially replaced by Parque Marítimo
Slovakia
Beautiful island, many interesting places to discover, great nature
Germany
The island is great for warm weather, walking, landscapes and food.
England UK
Streets and squares are often dirty, dog poop, litter....
Germany
I have a preference for Lanzarote that I already knew
France
I speak for Adeje and the island. Very beautiful.
Germany
Puerto de la Cruz is a nice place to stay.
Calm, with good groceries and gastronomy.
Italy
The north is good but the south is bad.

The atmosphere at the school, the teaching itself and the teachers.
It would be super if the school could also set up a 50Plus course in the A1 and A2 beginners' section. For us old people, it's just too fast with the sudden variations of topics within a lesson (clothes, long-distance travel, shopping, health, song lyrics, telephoning, doctor's appointment, leisure and party planning and Spanish social life/history...) or in the video quiz game (English-Spanish). Because at A2 level, grammar still demands extreme attention. The rapid changes of topics are mainly intended for young people to prevent boredom through variety. For us older people, the resulting required broad vocabulary is more of a burden. I, for one, am no longer able to learn 30-40 new words a day to be able to follow the lessons.

I can highly recommend FU International. I booked for two weeks but stayed an extra week because I was making good progress with the excellent teacher Laura. Classes are small, my first was seven students and the next two four. The subject matter was at the appropriate level for me but I noticed the college was flexible and would move students up mid week. The lessons are well planned with a test at the end of the week to identify any weak areas. The teachers encourage students to speak using a range of games and scenarios. Above all, for me aged 60+, the mix of ages because of the professional qualifications it offers means older students do not feel out of place.
I really liked the free breakfast every Monday on the lovely - usually sunny - terrace because it was a chance to socialise and meet other students on the first day. Plus the food is excellent!

Q&A - Questions and answers about Tenerife
- My son wants to do a Spanish course and surf for 2 weeks in Tenerife by himself. He also needs accommodation and is 17 years old. What do you recommend?“FU International Academy offers intensive + surf lessons. The minimum age of students is 16 in this school so that's perfect! How many Spanish lessons per week would he like to follow? The school also offers an airport transfer both ways from/to Tenerife South Airport. As he is 17 years old his only accommodation option at FU is a homestay family. Homestay is the option that I recommend for a true, full-on immersion experience and if you include either full or half board, then you also get to keep practicing around the dinner table, learning much more about the culture and traditions than you would otherwise. Contact us if you have more questions or if you need help booking the trip. We'll be happy to assist you. ”Robin Rebecca Pietersma, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 14, 2023

If the child is under 18, it is advisable (if not obligatory for many schools) to include the transfer to and from the airport, and there will be a school representative waiting for him/her and accompanying him/her to the family. If, on the other hand, the child is at least 18 years old, the transfer is not compulsory but recommended only if the plane arrives after 19:00 - 20:00, depending on the time of year. In this case, there is nothing to prevent you from also making arrangements with the host family to meet them or some member of the family at the airport.”Antonio Zoppo, Language Travel Consultant Italian from LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 08, 2023I am looking for a Spanish course for a 10-year-old child in Tenerife.
